I tried playing this and it's not really fun, not many places it's actually useful to use the portal gun, and with the time limit experimenting almost means you'll die from time up.

But no actual in-game character said Mario! It's completely plausible every person in that movie just said it wrong because they're silly. People can pronounce things wrong, but Mario can't really mispronounce his own name. Probably.

But if Nintendo had involvement in it, then wouldn't they correct any mispronunciation of the word? It's quite clear that they originally intended to pronounce it that way, then changed their mind for future titles.
