Oh and to add to what I said. The person is also spoiling tribe names/colors, who the returning players are and how many people from each tribe make the merge.

Most predictable finale of all time. All 5 positions were in the exact expected order.
There's hardly anything to really praise about the actual finale. Nice to see the jury wasn't so bitter. Kim gets to become one of the most deserving winners ever.
The reunion had a big Colton focus which was excellent. Colton is definitely one of the best overall for the season. Glad he knows that fans said the season got so boring after he left.
That's really about all there is to say about this season.

You hated Na Onka! What the HELL, man?!

To be fair, I kind of liked Na Onka but despised Colton. It's not gender bias for the record. The actual difference is that Nay was never in a position of true power (she might have been in the power alliance, but she was not heading it), meaning her crazy never spread to other teammates. Colton's mindset was poisoning his entire tribe. He literally convinced those dips***s to give up their immunity and risk their own asses. Na Onka was a b****, but at least she wasn't poisonous to the entire atmosphere. Only she herself was poison.
Inviso posted... You hated Na Onka! What the HELL, man?!
It depends on the context of the season.
Take Alicia for example, because I think she's very comparable to NaOnka. I hated her for the beginning of the season. Once Jonas and Colton were gone back to back, there was hardly anyone left creating consistent entertainment, so I enjoyed seeing Alicia way more in the second half.
Nicaragua had a lot of great people that were so ignored, and instead we got a huge focus on NaOnka every single episode. If NaOnka was in this season, in Alicia's place, I probably would have liked her. But she was hogging so much time from the interesting people in her season. (Btw, looking back in old Nicaragua topics, I liked NaOnka at different points in the season. It just got to be too much later).
It just wasn't the case this season, because everyone agrees once Colton was gone, this season turned into a snoozefest.

In my opinion, Colton was the BB12 Rachel Reilly of Survivor. Yes, he brought a lot of drama and "entertainment" to the season, but the end result was eating up a ton of screentime and his screenhogging early on meant we were given quality characters to root for throughout the season. Had Colton not been in the game, maybe the men aren't SO f***ing divided (actually, they probably would've been regardless, but whatever). And Sabrina most definitely would've given the idol to someone else which could've potentially f***ed over her alliance later in the game. You can't look at it as "Colton leaving made the season boring." You have to look at it as "Colton's presence until his boot made the season boring once he was gone."

18. Chelsea - One of the worst contestants the show has ever had. Glad she didn't get a single vote. 17. Matt - Like an awful Episode 1 version of Shannon (aka, not the hilariously funny episode 2 version of Shannon) 16. Michael - What a loser. Stealing supplies was his highlight. 15. Nina - Who? She's ugly too. 14. Bill - Obnoxious. His boot episode made him ok, but he's a really annoying person. 13. Leif - .gif 12. Kourtney - Why is the most irrelevant person ranked over 6 others? It's that bad. 11. Jay - He's pretty boring, but he had a few moments. 10. Sabrina - An ok narrator. Way better than some of the recent narrators like Alina and Mike. 9. Christina - What a joke. She's so bad that you just have to laugh sometimes. 8. Monica - She could have been one of the highest ranked people if she lasted. She was good stuff. 7. Kim - One of the best winners ever. Not terribly interesting (from what they chose to show). But she was good. 6. Alicia - Extremely negative at times, extremely delusional other times. Surprisingly, she was even likable at times, and did give us some pretty level headed strategic insight. She ended up being one of the better people of the season. 5. Kat - So dumb. But likable. 4. Tarzan - Over the top character who wasn't as forced as he could have been. He was a treat when they showed him. 3. Colton - He's pretty much the entire reason this season will rank over top of other seasons. While I'm only ranking him 3rd, he MADE this season in a positive way. It doesn't change the fact that he was completely detestable some episodes, and was sometimes at the bottom of my ranking. He fluxed more than anyone in my ranking, and by the time he was gone, we realized how needed he was with all these other boring people. 2. Troyzan - Ultimate underdog for the season. Had a funny excited way of talking. Always entertaining. 1. Jonas - The most chill bro in Survivor history.

While Colton may have been the most shown (actually, wasn't Sabrina shown just about as much as Colton at that point in the season?), he wasn't entirely hogging the screen like some seasons. And saying that he deprived us of future character development doesn't make sense. The moment NaOnka left Nicaragua, suddenly the other contestants became visible. They just f***ed up big time with what they chose to show in the 2nd half of the season....or the contestants were really that dull (and I know that Leif, Michael, and Jay are actually that dull, so I'm putting a lot of the blame on the them). They salvaged the first half of the season with Colton. He was a blessing they got lucky with.

Colton was one of the most visible players EVERY single episode he was in. Sabrina had a strong start, but then the next four episodes she was ignored. And he DID hog screentime all season. For two episodes where the women went to tribal council, the show was about him. Two episodes where the men went to tribal, it was all about Colton. EVERY f***ing pre-merge episode was about f***ing Colton. And yes, Colton deprived us of future character development, just like Rachel in BB12 (aka the worst BB ever). By hogging up the screentime and making the show all about him for six episodes, when he WAS eliminated, suddenly there was this massive void that the editors hadn't really bothered building anyone up to fill. Yeah, you had Troyzan and Tarzan and Jonas, but even they were ignored pre-merge in favor of Colton.
The moment Na Onka left in Nicaragua, you know what happened? NOTHING, except suddenly the game opened up in terms of who could potentially win. But the edits didn't change. Benry was still ignored, Fabio was still a lovable doofus, etc. Na Onka wasn't eating up SO much screentime every episode that the producers had NO other established characters to showcase in her absence. THAT is what Colton did. He allowed the editors to get sloppy and give the same sort of Coach/Russell/Rob editing that they've gotten so used to, and when he was booted early, they had no idea how to make the season balanced. I'm sure they had plenty to work with. I mean, seriously, Alicia was a world-class delusional villain, yet it took like, five episodes or so after the merge before they actually bothered to utilize her in any meaningful way. We saw Sabrina's confessionals. Even if she was lazy or whatever, she was still a fun narrator and they decided to relegate her to maybe getting a soundbyte about food.
The editors suck and they have no idea how to edit a season so it DOESN'T revolve around one central character. Nor do they know how to edit women, since they had at LEAST Alicia and Sabrina who they just completely ignored for a long stretch of episodes. And what's worse is that Nicaragua was a season they got right. They gave even-editing to everyone for the most part, and the fans hated it. So we get stuck with trash editing like this season and RI and SP.

This Wednesday's episode was such a breath of fresh air in editing with everyone getting a plot, some depth, and fleshed out alliances other than Kim/Chelsea, and then it was back to stale plotlines, bitter jury cutaways, and one character prevails tonight.
Who directed last week's episode and can we have him or her back more?

Nicaragua was far from evenly-edited. Was it more even than the three seasons that have followed it and the three seasons that preceded it? Absolutely. But there were a ton of characters that got very ignored, and two characters that got a pretty disproportionate amount of screen time.

I don't really see how the point you are making is about Colton though, Inviso. We can trash the editors all we want. The difference between Nicaragua and One World IMO, is that One World had a pretty lackluster cast, and Nicaragua didn't. I'd rather see more Colton confessionals, than a perfect balance of Colton, Leif, Jay, and Michael, because those guys sucked to listen to and were horrible casting choices. Though in practice, this is what has lead to Survivor having crappily edited season, by NOT balancing, but that's an entirely different discussion (which is irrelevant, since One World and Nicaragua were both badly edited). With Nicaragua, I'd rather not see more NaOnka confessionals, because it annoys me that I'm not seeing an equal balance of the others. Give me perfect balance of NaOnka, Fabio, Benry, Jane, etc.
It just comes down to context. With One World, it was pretty clear that a lot of these guys sucked, regardless of Colton's presence. With Nicaragua, it just angered me that it was the NaOnka show with all those other interesting people they felt like ignoring.
Yeah, I don't get where this myth that Nicaragua was evenly-edited came from. Benry and Dan were 6th and 5th and got next to no screentime. Marty and Na'Onka got most of the screentime while they were on the show. It wasn't Samoa/RI/SP, but it was far from even.

Marty and Na Onka may have gotten more screentime than the others, but really, only Benry and Dan (And Kelly S., but she was a quitter) were IGNORED per say, and Benry was a boring douche while Dan wasn't all that talkative.
To me, that's even editing. Almost every player in a twenty-person season got a storyline and characterization, which is unheard of in twenty-person seasons.

Let me go on record of saying that I loathe both Colton and NaOnka. If I were to do a 426 rankdown right now, they would probably be at 426 and 425. Probably Colton at 426 because unlike NaOnka who was just a horrible person, Colton actually made me uncomfortable to watch. Like, Jonathan from Amazing Race 6 uncomfortable. At at least Amazing Race 6 had an otherwise spectacular cast, unlike One World, which was one of the most meh casts in reality TV history.

Eh, I'd argue Alina, but I see your point. Maybe I'm just jaded because everyone kept mentioning how funny and well liked Dan was, but we weren't getting any of that on TV. But I would say that it proves that Colton wasn't the issue. Marty got about as much screentime as Colton and was out pretty early, but we still got to see a whole bunch of other people. IIRC Holly didn't even get that much focus until after Marty's boot. There's no reason why they couldn't have developed anyone after Colton left, unless they all really were that boring.

How can there be spoilers out for next season's results already? I thought they filmed the fall season over the summer, and then filmed the spring season while the fall season airs.
It seems like having the season in the bag over 4 months before Episode 1 airs is just begging for leaks.
