I've never seen Big Brother, and I was kind of interested in trying to watch Glass House...But then I read that the outcome of the game is decided entirely by votes from the viewers? Survivor is the only reality show I've seen, and I it would be similar to that, but if the voting is done by the public, doesn't that mean the show is essentially just a contest to make viewers like you more? I'd be interested in watching if there was still strategy and if anyone could win, not just the super likeable people...

Have I got it wrong impression? Is it still worth watching?

It only has been 1 episode so far so it's tough to tell if it'll be any good. From the looks of it 2 players are put on the block and the viewers vote to evict one of them from the game. That's where the audience comes in.

It's very similar to foreign versions of Big Brother (UK, for example). Glass House is popularity-based, yes. It's definitely a different game than Big Brother. Voting does exist in Glass House, but it's to decide who gets put up on the block, not who is evicted (again similar to foreign versions of BB).


I would highly recommend BB if you like Survivor, though. It's very strategic and has plenty of quality seasons. Also BB14 is coming on in 3 weeks!

I was looking at the names on the website in the link you posted! I wouldn't have remembered more than about 4 either.

Alex - Colton-wannabe (literally could be his brother I feel). Honestly, he's both good and bad. Good because he's a character who is at least trying (admittedly a little too much too soon), but bad because his trying kinda sucks. He'd be better if he toned it down.

I kind of agree too. He is really embodying what the show could be about. But he's doing it poorly. If he were more clever or devious or something. Like playing mean-spirited pranks on people without revealing it's him. That could be ok.

Yup. But some people might think being a villain will make America like you. Afterall, Russell did win Fan Favorite twice in a row!

And there is some sort of strategy. America can only vote you out if the house nominates you (or if you lose a challenge I guess).

The previous version of BBUK had a self-realized "villain" like Alex in Glass House, who dubbed himself a villain and went about trying to own it instead of just being it naturally. It was pretty dumb, and the guy got evicted the next week (it was halfway through the season though).

People don't care for try-hards. Be natural or be good at being fake. Alex has potential, but it could easily turn out to be downright awful.

yeah, when I used to watch the RTVzone survivor recaps DIck got on my nerves a lot. I could deal with his loud an obnoxious personality if it wasn't for the fact that he always seems less knowledgeable than the others, and just repeats the same stuff all the time.

I'd buy the seasons if iTunes let me burn DVDs (Without jumping through a bunch of loops).

Thankfully Gabon is like the one season that remains on YouTube. My friend who's watching it is at F7.

For the first half of the season she thought Marcus or Randy would win, now she thinks Bob or Kenny will.

She's basically an Edgic superstar.

K so I've got a little more info on the whole Recruits vs. Favorites thing. Apparently Jason, Erik, Tracy, Kathy and Joel were all applicants (though I'm a bit skeptical about Joel and Kathy). Mary's status is (very fittingly) uncertain. Mikey was a recruit but had applied for a previous season (supposedly Africa). Alexis, Natalie, and Chet were straight-up recruits.

I know :( I only got 5 episodes into Samoa. At least I got to see all of Ashley's episodes, which was my new awesome discovery of the season. She was so cool <3
