I don't like reusing Pokemon, but I also don't like trading to get "illegal" Pokemon.
So I guess I'll just build a team out of whatever scraps I can find! Definitely scrapping the starter though.
My team in Black was Samurott, Gothitelle, Lilligant, Sawk, Unfezant/Golurk, and Zoroark/Hydreigon (I really wanted to use Zoroark, but it was just so bad that I replaced it), so I hope to use completely different pokemon in BW2. Hopefully, I'll be able to pick up a Throh easily.

You can always see what route a Pokemon appears on in the Pokedex. Now you can go to a route with it and it tells you all of the Pokemon that show up on that route. It's more convenient.

Some Pokemon you can find before the 2nd gym: Pidove, Magby/Elekid (depending on the game version), Growlithe, Audino, Magnemite and Koffing. Not too bad I guess, but Magby/Elekid are annoying to evolve both times and Pidove is awful unless it gets changes.
You realize that I still haven't finished all endgame stuff for Diamond/Pearl/Platinum or SoulSilver, then there's Black sitting there with nearly NO endgame stuff done and it's just like 'well f*** me dude'.

Oh s*** Magnemite. But I already used MAGNEZONE in Platinum.
Maybe I'll pick up Elekid if there's a way to get him to Electivire pre-E4.
I also hope Homika won't use Koffing because it's boring seeing the gym leaders of types use the same Pokemon. I know Poison doesn't have a lot to offer, but I hope she has something like Venipede or Whirlipede, Croagunk and Trubbish or Tentacool.
I bet Cheren will have Eevee and/or Lillipup to go with his Patrat. Eevee is probably the most popular/likely normal non-B/W Pokemon for him to have anyways.
Wait a minute. Shizui is the last gym leader, but look at this:
Only three Pokemon? Sure, Drayden / Iris had three Pokemon also, but theirs were Dragon-type. Shizui might be the worst eight gym leader yet, depending of which Pokemon he has.
random story idea: gym leaders are supposed to gage your skill. 8th gym battle, 3 pokemon, after you faint 1 pokemon or something, team plasma interrupts the battle. do some plasma stuff, then come back, gym leader sees your skill against plasma and now his levels are higher/more pokemon/or something.

I understand the first few gyms holding back, but seriously, by gym 6, they should have at least 5. It always makes me sad when one of my Pokemon just destroys the 8th gym leader.
And I'd be cool with his team being something that would be hard to take advantage of. Kingdra, Marshtomp, Gyarados (only one is weak to electric and one weak to grass).
