I would have to check all the characters that made it, but knowing the disparity between my taste in video games and that of the board in general, I would say 20% sounds about right. It could have been a percentage point higher though if Garcian and Plok made it.

The above may as well apply to all of Atlus, as Catherine's charms couldn't outdo Cammy's skill.

Then again, if you're a Darkstalker woman, you do much better.

Captain Falcon was successfully prosecuted for property damage via Falcon Punch.

22 - #20 Commander Shepherd (Mass Effect, No-Life 2: Effect 3) (1-0) 59.5%

Second half voters overwhelmingly push Shepard over Tidus in this battle of gender ambiguity.

25 - Magus (Chrono Trigger, Ye Olde Squaresoft) (1-0) 71.4%
10 - Recette Lemongrass (Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale, Tales of Democracy, Ho!) (0-1) 28.6%

Recette is used to selling items to help RPG characters. She's not going to do well with that mindset.

I got nothing.

This match was tied at 5. Then Samus got to work and scored several touchdowns.

This last second upset is going to cause an Uproar.

Falco had to be bailed out at the last moment to avoid losing to a Shadow Bombplex character. His Smash Bros future will be painful.

24 - Fang (Final Fantasy XIII, Playstation All-Stars) (1-0) 70.6%

Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Jake Peril managed to get double-digit votes. That was a rare occurrence in his last NCAA appearance.

Characters are grouped together this year based on similarity, not randomized. That's how conferences like Smash Bros exist.

Actually, matches between same series/company characters of similar strength tend to be good matches (in past NCAAs). The blowouts come from strength gaps, and you already expect one to win easily over the other in such scenarios.
