Yeah he's a new guy who is getting his origin in Green Lantern #0. He also appeared in the Trinity War free comic book day issue, fighting against the Justice League. In his official art he had a gun. Just...a normal gun, in addition to the power ring. Who knows what the hell is up with this guy.

So we're all in agreement that Marvel Now! a.k.a. ReVolution is the worst thing ever right? That it's gonna dilute Marvel's brands and flood the market worse than in the 90's right? Okay, as long as we agree.

Some of the mentioned and rumored creative teams sound good.

But the AR code stuff is dumb and nobody gives a **** about digital versions of normal print comics.

I could see it all going bad, but fingers crossed. I could see a lot of the lower selling and less mainstream books kicking the bucket, though.

I feel like Marvel could've planned something like this better. I wouldn't mind if they just copied DC's new 52 though some people might. I just have no clue where to start to follow some of their heroes since they have a lot of issues.

They're definitely going to cancel books. You don't launch three Avengers books when you already have like 4 regular Avengers books on the market. There's no reason to believe otherwise.

the best place to start a book is the one sitting on a shelf. failing that, you go back to when the current creator took over. failing that, and assuming the current book and creative team aren't very good, you ask someone "hey, what's a good ____ trade? cool, thanks."

It's a lot easier than it seems. It helps that most of Marvel's current big books suck, so you can just pick up old stuff. From a numbers perspective, ASM is the hardest to pick a starting point for, many seem to just start at Big Time.

Oh yeah, I should probably try to be specific even though I don't know much about any of them.

Spider-Man - preferably a trade with Venom.

Iron Man - Outside of movies I know nothing about him so just something where he's really great would be fine.

X-Men - Preferably the uh main group people unfamiliar with it would still know like Wolverine, Storm, etc. Something with Jubilee might be nice too since I got the feeling the live action and animated stuff never really cared about her.

Collecter's Edition always cost a %$#^ton of money. The Evil Ex cover is tempting though. Anyways just got back form watching ASM. I watched it in 3d. They didn't really do any pop-out type stuff but if oyu have ever played on a 3ds it was mainly like that. I would say it was worth the extra price for 3d cause the depth made it look much better.

so i'm all caught up with the comics i've been following

for DC

Animal Man and Swamp Thing are the only consistently great books

Batman has also been great save for that last issue's OMG REVEAL

Aquaman is surprisingly good except for that wacky issue with Mera going out for dog food where the "normal" humans act like crazy people

Demon Knights is still awesome for swash-buckling fun and real nice CONSISTENT art

Action Comics and Wonder Woman have been up and down, Action more so with how Morrison decided to insert the League storyline just before his first arc was about to finish

The Flash and Justice League are very pretty books but with just good to ok stories

Dial H and Batman Inc are keepers while Earth 2 and World's Finest need something good soon to keep my attention

as for Marvel...

i just read all of Hickman's F4 and FF, and i am kicking myself for not getting into this sooner

Uncanny X-Force (which i'm glad isn't totally being dragged into the AvX mess) and Daredevil continue to be fantastic while Punisher is just a tier below the two (although i am a bit iffy about that upcoming "event" with him as the star)

Captain America has been in on a slow decline but at least Cap and Bucky was great

Winter Soldier fills my action espionage desires nowadays

Well, you probably know where to look? A program that uses hubs perhaps?

I will say, AvX5 in a way is one of those issues where it's just the event at the end that matters, it's one of the most straightforward simple comics I've read. A synopsis would almost be as good.

That said, I do dig AvX a lot, just issues 4 and 5 were very straightforward, and they kinda dragged the first act out. Issue 6 ruled.
