Gideon Jura is as he appears in Magic: the Gathering stories and novels with full access to his hieromancy and sural. He only has enough mana to make himself invincible for 60 seconds total during the match, which he may switch on and off at will.

If I can see it coming, I'm indestructible! (Passive) : If you do abilities first in any given week, Gideon will be immune to all damaging abilities and KOs from enemy teams.

You're not going alone.(Pre-Battle): Every four weeks, if a target allied merc would be damaged or KO'd by an ability your team controls (including their own), Gideon can throw himself on top of them and channel his invincibility to protect them both. If he does, reduce his mana in battle by half this week.

Character upgrade:

Increase amount of mana to 80 seconds.

Ability upgrade:
He can save two allies now, but he will lose all mana in battle if he does.

New ability:

Tragic Arrogance (Peacetime): Gideon has a bad history of doing something heroic, but getting everyone around him hurt or killed as a result. Every 7 weeks, this habit will strike again. By the end of Peacetime, each leader must separate their non-support mercs into two groups of exactly equal upkeep (or as close as possible) and choose one of them to be KO'd. Gideon cannot be KO'd this way, nor does he count toward his leader's upkeep. This ability must be declared within the first three hours of Peacetime, and a leader who does not make a decision will have his pools randomized.

Terrain:

Ruins of Sea Gate -- Once Zendikar's beacon of hope, now ruined by the eldrazi. The dam is broken and corrupted by Kozilek's brood, and access to the reservoir and surrounding sea is allowed. No Roil tides will spawn, and access to the rest of Zendikar is forbidden.

Nissa gets s*** on by terrain, unfortunately. "Here's a cold industrial city and/or corrupted soil. Enjoy!" She isn't completely useless in that environment, but she becomes a 2. At least she has melee feats.

Ral Zarek is main just a good support build.

Kiora, on the other hand, has the Bident of Thassa, and that thing can f*** s*** up.

Doesn't she have Reclamation Magic to f*** s*** up in cities though? Especially if her writeup specifies she has a permanent mana channel. Feels like she'd completely mow down robots and destructible city terrain if given a chance.

(Kiora is good too, I just need to find what source materials she has so I can research her)

Look up what Kiora does in the Theros and BFZ stories.

Nissa can f*** s*** up in certain parts of cities, but it's conditional. She's only able to do it in Kaladesh because she's attuned to the Aether Conduit, and she's able to do it in *certain parts* of Ravnica the same way Selesnya folk can. Stick her in an Izzet lab with no windows or cracks in the floor and she's gonna do approximately jack s***.

Someone besides me watch Lord of Illusions and help me decide if Nix is a 5 or a 6 (I don't think he comes across as terribly durable in hindsight, but he can open pits in the ground deep enough you're hitting magma and has TK that can throw cars around)

So I'm playing Tales of Symphonia ATM and HOLY f*** REGAL

I get why Lloyd and Kratos got into M4 (protag and beloved side character) but why was this guy not in too? Dude is ridiculously overpowered compared to the rest of the party. Kratos needed a teeny tiny pricetag for his 4/week value but Regal is a very easy 4 IMO.

Seriously, hit him with something like GLaDOS' Goodbye Caroline and I think you could argue him as a 5 off the kamehameha blast and how casually he blows up an entire church-sized room with one kick at a certain point. I'm just baffled because I thought Tales characters were basically all around that 3/week level until Sorey (and now Velvet) but it seems I was totally mistaken.

Couple characters I've been considering:
Raven (Teen Titans) - 5/week, maybe 6? Have to rewatch a little
Black Dynamite - 2/week based on the movie, maybe 3 including the show
Rick Sanchez - 4/week, 6 with ship

Doing some final sidequests for ToS before I go cave Mithos' face in and I feel like doing some upkeep rankings + analysis for the main party:

-Lloyd: He should actually be a 4/week, strictly looking at feats. He casually cuts through steel even before getting the Material Blades, tanks getting shot in the back by a mega buster and gives absolutely no f***s (like, complete no-sell), solos Kratos in incredibly convincing fashion, and the Material Blades give him, at minimum, some level of teleport hax. I can see why Lloyd is a 3 (namely that it makes him a more attractive purchase, and that this way he gets to shine brighter) but I would totally take him over Henry Cooldown (Travis Touchdown but without massive personality nerfing + bossfight hype, if you don't know him) and that guy is totally a 4/week. Was super impressed by him.

-Colette: There is literally no character who would benefit more from losing their personality than Colette. She has phenomenal turbobulls*** angelic powers...but her personality is so f***ing worthless she'd be lucky to be a 2/week in spite of having access to Grand Cross and Judgement. The really f***ing funny thing is that she literally has backing for becoming soulless so you could bake that in as a pricy character upgrade for her and it'd be a total steal even if it was 30 EXP. Colette being such a useless and clumsy ditz drops her two upkeep tiers, easily.

-Raine: I'd actually like to see someone like Raine over other healbots. Her offensive capabilities are pretty limited but it's really hard to argue with 'totally homing spells and also powerbuffz'. Certainly feels better than Aeris at least. Neat 2/week.

-Genis: Does ANYBODY like Genis? Indignation's ballin' but I feel like he would get zero respect. No feats anywhere to speak of.

-Sheena: lol sheena

I have never met another character who felt so f***ing worthless to use in any RPG, and this includes Jogurt in shining force

f*** those stubby ass normals, easy 1/week unless you give her spirithax bulls***

-Kratos: Man, my respect for Kratos soared after playing this game. Just 'can cast Judgement and is not Colette' totally makes him a strong 4/week who doesn't need a minbid discount, but the fact he s***houses an entire four man party and possibly a full team of eight (depending on if you think he wins or loses in the midgame battle - the fact Lloyd later says he held back suggests he won that 1v8) makes him super legit. Add in all the feats he's got and I feel like he's maybe one step below Alucard and Ky Kiske, and more versatile than the later with his healing magic and elemental spells plus flight.

-Zelos: IDK about Zelos man. Dude feels like 'Kratos but worse', but...he's in a really weird spot. 3/week I guess?

-Presea: I really have no idea why she was in M3 over any other Tales reps (besides Lloyd). Like sure she's strong but she has no feats whatsoever. I feel like everybody besides Genis and Raine has more potential than her, even Colette. She isn't even a great tank because she is ssssssssoooooooooooooooooo sloooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwww. Solid 2/week I guess?

-Regal: Honestly was kinda floored by how casually he outshone everybody whenever he gave a s***. I have zero doubts that he's up there with Kratos for the title of strongest ToS rep (besides Mithos I guess but who'd want that dweeb in mercs). Honestly would want him in Mercs just to see what a leader who did solid research could do with him. Probably a pretty solid 4/week.

Villainous Male/Female Beast

The Raptors are as they appear in Jurassic Park. There are three of them working in unison.

Life Finds a Way (Passive) - Thanks to oddball Jurassic Park science, the Raptors count as Males and Females for the purposes of abilities.

Clever Girl (Passive) - The Raptors always hunt in a pack. As such there are three of them, though they'll only take one roster slot. In addition, any ability striking the Raptors will only hit one of the three, randomly chosen.

The World's Expert On Getting Killed (Start of Battle) - Every other week, the Raptors may go hunting for a preselected enemy merc. That merc will fight that day utterly convinced that they know everything there is to know about the Raptors and decide it is a good idea to break off on their own to hunt them; meanwhile the Raptors will begin the match away from their team, patiently waiting for the selected enemy to be alone. When they are, the Raptors will surround that merc on three sides, one distracting from the front, two from either side. The Raptors will somehow pull this ambush off regardless of what the terrain looks like and be invisible to the selected enemy until the ambush begins.

I've Had It with these Motherf***ing Snakes on this Motherf***ing Plane (Start of Battle) - If Agent Neville Flynn is selected and his terrain is chosen., he may have a randomly selected post-rosters enemy come to battle with an overwhelming fear on snakes. This ability will go on 2 weeks of recharge once used.

Nature Is Lethal but It Doesn't Hold a Candle to Man (Start of Battle) - If Russell Franklin is selected and his terrain is chosen, he may have a randomly selected post-rosters enemy start the battle in the center of the terrain, giving an inspiring speech to no one in particular for 30 seconds, with their back to an open pool. This ability will go on 3 weeks of recharge once used.

Ray Arnold may be selected as Customization, unlocking his terrain and ability.

Ray Arnold is as seen in Jurassic Park.

Hold On To Your Butts (Start of Battle) - If Ray Arnold is selected and his terrain is chosen, he may have a randomly selected post-rosters enemy start the battle in the center of the terrain, having locked themselves in a car, surrounded by the T-Rex, as seen in the film. They may leave the car of their own free will. This ability will go on 2 weeks of recharge once used.

Terrains

Gerald Olin:
The Dolphin Hotel, Room 1408 - The hotel room 1408. The room is demented, and will cause hallucinations in all rostered mercs, attempting to break their minds and convince them to kill themselves.

Agent Neville Flynn:
Boeing 747-400 - An in-flight jet airliner filled with deadly snakes of all sizes.

Russell Franklin:
Aquatica - A remote, partially flooded laboratory. The laboratory is inhabited by three super-intelligent, man-eating sharks that will attack all mercs.

Ray Arnold:
Jurassic Park - The entire park, fully occupied by all dinosaurs seen in the movie.

I want to add in at least one more character, but I'm not sure who to go with. Considering Jules Winfield (Pulp Fiction) or Nick Fury primarily, but can't think of locations so unique and game-changing that it'd be worth it.

Initial thought is Nick Fury, with Helicarrier as a terrain, and an ability that traps a merc in the chamber Loki's held in.

Guidelines

- The members of each team are ideal teammates capable of a pre-selected plan of battle.

How I see the match: The Anaconda is eating the other snakes right of the bat.

I guess Serone and Flynn would work together, since the goal for both is to capture the Anaconda? Thing is, Flynn doesn't know anything about catching snakes, only killing him, and he's the one likely to blow a hole in the plane to suck the snakes out.
