Board 8 > Platinum #29 earned: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS4) [thoughts inside]

I beat the game last night and it only took me a few hours more this afternoon to get the platinum. By far the easiest of the PS2 trilogy to plat, even considering how long the game is compared to the others. The only grindy trophy is kill 4000 people, and that took maybe 2 hours to do(I had 1500 left) while I watched videos on my laptop. Unlike the other two games, 100% is not necessary to platinum, and I have no plans to 100% because honestly that would take dozens more hours. But I'm glad all the extra stuff is there if I wanted to do it.

After playing the trilogy over the last 12 months, it is clear that SA is technically the best of the three, but I still think Vice City is my favorite. San Andreas has a lot to do and it innovated the genre a ton, especially where storytelling in open world games is concerned. But Vice City had a really cool atmosphere and the ending was more satisfying. I also liked the shorter length of the main story. San Andreas dragged on for a really long time, although the quality was pretty good throughout.

I'm not going to go back and plat GTA3. That game has aged far far worse than the other 2 and just is not very fun to play. I'd have to start the game over to get some of the trophies, and I have no desire to grind through that story again.

So, VC > SA >>>> 3. Is that similar to how you would rank them?


I think for #30 I'll get GoW: Ascension. I've been working on my hard playthrough every now and then, and that's probably just another 5-6 hours to get it. Also want to start up Wolfenstein: The Old Blood and maybe I'll finally get around to the platinum in The Wolf Among Us. I think I just need to clean up a couple odds and ends for that one.

Gotta switch SA and VC. I just see SA as a cut above, the logical extension of what III started and VC continued.

I may not have the patience for a game like GTA3. It just feels clunky and outdated now. The other two games do too, but to a lesser degree. And the story is super weak. Silent protagonists are something I'm glad the series moved away from.

Started the old blood last night. It's more wolfenstein so far, which is nice!
