This time I hope to not get to distracted by shiny things. Any tips?

Also, what's the word on the DLC? Are any of them worth it?

Far Harbor is great and adds a new island to explore, plus some weapons (harpoon guns, lever-action rifles) and a new companion. I'd call it the best all-around, although the island is in Maine, so it's dreary 24/7, lol. Nuka-World was pretty enjoyable, but the best part is letting you establish raider settlements that steal from other settlements, rather than raise their own resources. You can only unlock that after completing most of the NW campaign, though.

The Mechanist DLC was kinda weak, but gave you a new indoor settlement area, plus the ability to create robotic companions of your own making. Want an assaultron with a laser beam head and two buzzsaw hands and tank treads? Sure. My favorite thing in the whole Mechanist DLC is actually giving settlements wall-mounted spotlights.

The workshop DLC stuff is less important, but you can probably find at least one good thing about each if you love making your own villages.

This pretty much nails all the DLC. Nuka World is kinda crappy if you aren't interested in being a Raider.
