I lean towards saying no, but it sort of depends on the reason. As John Wick 2 pointed out he actually is pretty reasonable if you didn't do something unforgivable. So if he is after me for something like buying his stolen car or something like that, I'm good.

Growing up, we're taught to fear the boogeyman. This. . . unnatural force of evil. Very powerful, very mysterious. . . very. . .focused. Relentlessness manifested into a cold, efficient, calculating supervillain.

John Wick, is the man you send to kill the boogeyman.

More like "His entire world comes crashing down." One thing I liked about the films was how they basically hinted at different themes in then. The Continental is Heaven. The dude at the counter has the name of the guy on the boat who takes lost souls across the river Styx. Winston could be be God/Zeus. Wick is essentially the Devil.

The dude has much a reputation that At the end of the 2nd film when Wick was like "I'll kill them all." Winston pretty much confirmed it in a non "LOL. Ok whatever XD" way. Like he legit believed that whoever goes after Wick is likely going to die.

I know, but that is something you discuss after someone has seen the movie, not before.

Also, I disagree on your mythology. Winston is very "behind-the-scenes". The Continental isn't really heavenly in any sort of way (and not exclusive, as we learn in the sequel). There is defintely an underlying myth arc, but I don't think it's as simple as a God/Devil dichotomy.

Oh, you mean like hiding in a death fortress (Didn't work for either antagonists), or hiring the best hitmen in the world (Didn't work for the antagonist of II), or paying him off (Didn't work for the first movie's antagonist) or involving the government/authorities (They refuse to get involved) or ...

Well I mean there is a lot that people in the films could do. like.

Why did nobody but John go for head shots? Why didn't they just take him out with a sniper and not random henchmen? Why not secretly put a car bomb in his car? etc. I think the main reason is respect and skill. The random red shirts don't have his skill or reputation and thus get one shotted when they encounter him. Hell, even top level assassins have a hard time with him.

Side note: supposedly the writers are working on a TV prequel to the films. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Because we already have a prequel to the Taken films, that supposedly shows Liaam Neesons character when he was younger, saving people from being kidnapped. And not his adventures with the CIA or Black ops.

They may have tried headshots. They are rather difficult. There is a reason most police forces are trained for body shots. On top of that, people don't generally hit him regardless of where they are aiming at. The sniper requires someone who knows him or can track him (and actually was tried but the sniper turned out to be helping him). The car bomb wouldn't work, as the only car that could be tied to him was stolen in the first act.

This would suck, so hard. I'd rather see a show about the assassin's world with a different character.

Well it is written by the guys who did the first two movies. The problem is that with TV we'll get less bad assery and more drama. Plus, it's going to be hard to make the prequel interesting because while it is kind of interesting to see just HOW he got so good and became the killing machine. It's also interesting to see just how his wife won him over for 5 years.

But, with TV it's going to be less violent, less budget and probably something stupid.

This is exactly what my problem is. The Star Wars prequel proved that some questions are best left unanswered. No matter what you do, you are bound to disappoint one segment of fans. The ambiguity of his character is part of what makes him so interesting. Answering those questions is like pulling back the curtain on a magic trick.

John Wick: I went to the gun range for 8 hours a day and trained nearly nonstop.

(That's pretty much at least what Keanu Reeves did, and it makes me wonder if any TV actor would want to go THAT far with the training. )

I know, I saw his training video. That was crazy awesome. But can you imagine them trying to film his 'impossible mission'? There is no way to film it and keep everyone satisfied. People's imaginations are one of the best tools in a storyteller's arsenal, and prequel shows that exist only to explain ambiguities are a complete waste.

True, I just imagine his impossible mission is something that required him taking down a compound. But then realize he did nearly that in the first two films. So his impossible mission has to be something much bigger and better. Which isn't something you could do for TV, they'd run out of money in the first episode.

Then you'd have a Flash episode where all they did was talk about their problem for two episodes. Who the hell wants to see John Wick do nothing but talk? He's a man of action, not a talker.

Agreed. In addition, the movies went for a real 'show-don't-tell' feeling, which works great in film but horribly in TV.

The ONLY way it could work is on Netflix,HBO or Showtime. Any other channel would probably ruin it. But I'm still hesitant about it. Watch has they make the Continental some evil master mind behind everything.

Winston: You see John, It was I who set your wife for cancer so you could come back to us. It was I who also set you on this path.. It was me Wick, It was me all a long!
