Ahh yeah, that one is pretty interesting. isn't that around the time he also hit them with plagues, or was that somewhere else?

Yeah it was a part of the whole 9 plagues deal.

I think he killed the animals with plague 5.
Killed them again with plague 7.
And kill the first born including animals (which should be dead twice already) with plague 10.

Ahh, that's a lot of plagues for a group of people.

Kind of appalling given that one of the commandments is to not kill your neighbors

Apparently murdering thousands of people (mostly children I'm guessing) is alright though

Technically he issued the commandments after that.

Funny how after rescuing his people from slavery, didn't think to put that on the list of bad things.

God created us to love him. True love can't be forced (nope, not even by God). Therefore, God had to give us free will, and the option to go against what he wants. Of course God doesn't like it when we go against his will, so he might let it go for a while, but unless we straighten up eventually we'll get punished at some point.

Yeah life could be easier, but that's not the world we live in. God is how he is. Could be a lot worse.

Except that God promised he'd never "punish" us like he did with the flood again.

But honestly, none of it really matters when the entirety of the bible was touch-and-go and people interpret it any way they want to make it fit their whims.

Anyway, one of my favorite parts is God "cursing" the snake to lose its legs as a punishment for manipulating Eve, even though it was Satan in snake-form, not just some snake who was bored and wanted to stir the pot.

Honestly, God is a petulant child who gets mad when his toys don't work right.

Yea, its just the most common idea. Like you said, there is so much that isn't explicitly stated, It is never confirmed that that the serpent was Satan, or Lucifer for that matter. There isn't even a consensus whether Satan and Lucifer are the same angel at different times, or two separate beings.
