Those sound like baller ass jobs.

The only motivation I have in working is knowing that I'm saving 33% of my paychecks so I can retire early and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

If I was living paycheck to paycheck and I had a wife and kids and a mortgage I would blow my fucking brains out.

i am in a lousy situation where im making enough money that i am not living paycheck to paycheck but am not making enough that i am saving in such a significant way that i'm on track for an early retirement or to make massive investments

I always wonder when people post shit like this, can everybody really have a job they're passionate about, and if so, who's going to do all the shitty jobs no one likes?

I've been working over 10 years and never could find the motivation. The fact of getting up in a hurry to do something I don't want to do first thing in the morning, 5 days out of fucking 7 and spending the better part of the day there- in addition to going to and from, home chores, working out etc. leaving me with realistically 2-3 hours of free time per day

depresses me to the highest point

But some people don't seem to mind. My brain could use a tuning of upwards energy and downwards anxiety, would probably function through this shit better. I think you're supposed to derive some sort of dopaminergic reward pleasure while working. My brain refuses to do this.

Do you not live in America or something? Students work. A lot. Especially college students whose schedules are far more varied.

Not to mention it's bull anyway. I have no doubt some people like their job, at least sometimes.

The bull part is that it's impossible to find a job after 2008 unless your dream job is flipping burgers, let alone one you will like.

Even doing something you love gets old when you're doing it 8 hours a day 5 days a week for decades.

I think most people just stop giving a shit after a while. Usually everyone finds a way to do the least work while making it look like they're really busy. Then spend hours a day on their phone or talking with coworkers. I mean out of an 8 hour day how much work do you actually do? I have the luxury of being almost completely unsupervised half the time so for me it's probably 5 hours of real work and 3 of sitting around reading or talking.

It's true that there are those few you run into that having been doing their job for 30 years and still love it and give 100%. Personally I think those kind of people are rather ill in the head and shouldn't be trusted around sharp objects but whatever.

I don't hate my life, it's just that working in the professional world is dull and tiring.

From my experiences working professionally, the "do what you're passionate about" aspect of work is a myth college professors and high school teachers tell their students to prevent them from checking out before they even started. There are only so many actors and sculptors and rock stars out there. Most of us just type shit into spreadsheets so we can earn a paycheck to support our selves and families.

i used to be this way but buying stuff isnt even fun for me anymore, because like 90% of the shit i buy is not exciting. when i was a teenager all my money went to buying new sneakers and Playstations and stuff and now it all goes to buying new cookware or a vacuum or collared shirts for work

Find a job that is not monotonous.

Also, I wake up an hour before I have to leave for work. That way I have time to do everything I have to do, make breakfast, and watch some TV. I only have to motivate myself to get up on the 4th day of working. The weekend is so close yet still two days away.

You know there's far more shit in the real world that don't go in the categories of '9-5 office job,' 'starving artist,' or 'celebrity' right? The fact alone that you're using actors and "rock stars" as examples is honestly pretty hilarious.

I'll name random things I'm not necessarily interested in. Makeup artists, something that most everybody doesn't even think of, or any behind-the-scenes type of work for stage productions, news channels, etc. If someone likes fixing or building, there are prospects in electrician, architecture, tower technician, and especially if you're good at repairing technology. The people who type shit in court can make good $ (forget what they're called, my bad). There's working in health such as therapist, mental or physical, vet, nutritionist, speech pathologist, audiologist, and the other day I met a woman who was a traveling nurse (which I didn't know that was even a thing) that loved it. She said it's only good for those who don't have a family of their own, though.

If you're good with dead people there's a funeral director, embalmer, autopsy. And with technology being the ruler of our world, there's shit like web design, app developer, graphic design, art animation. And overall random crap like real estate, interior design, landscape, event/wedding planning, freelancing, food stall/truck, air traffic controller, technical writer, translator, travel/blogger, museum, etc. etc.

The main thing that separates you and the person that does indeed have your dream job is the motivation to work for it. People give up in the face of adversity and decide that everyone hates their job, so they should just take a job they hate like everyone else.
