Mead 05/06/17 7:23:02 AM #1:	I was a mere teenager, the year was likely 2000 or 2001. The exact moment in time is largely irrelevant. What is important are the events that I witnessed while gathering my beverage for my meal. For it was at this moment that I saw a man also procuring a drink of his own. There was nothing particularly interesting about this man. He was wearing ordinary clothing and by all appearances had an ordinary demeanor. He had set down his plate of food to get his drink, and after a moment lifted it back up off of the counter. This is when fate intervened. As he raised his plate, a single piece of fried chicken plummeted off the dish, and onto the colorful carpeting below. I watched him, bemused, silently wondering if the man would throw the food away or shamefully place ot back onto his plate. What he did, however, was beyond the limits of my imagination. Without hesitating the man reached down, picked up the chicken, and placed it squarely upon the drainage grate of the fountain drink dispenser. He then turned around and walked to his booth, as if this were all perfectly acceptable. I watched, dumbfounded, wondering what could compell a man to perform such an act. I then waited, watching for any sign that the man may face some consequence for his actions. None came. He completed his meal and then left with the rest of his dinner party. Gone to live out his days without facing the responsibility of what he had done. It was on day that my faith was irreversibly shaken. I do agree that person should have disposed of it in a garbage can. I don't believe that anyone would have taken and eaten that chicken from where it was left.
