Is it against their rules? If so isn't that sexist/illegal? If not how is it NO women are good enough to make it on a pro team?

With all the hand wringers and marches out there it's weird we never hear demonstrators going crazy over this.

The San Jose Sharks had a female goaltender in their system in the 90's

From what I understand, there is a female kicker that has a decent shot of making an NFL team also

I'm not sure why this isn't a more common occurrence, but it's not unheard of.

It can be within their rules but how can their rules supersede the laws? These are jobs first and foremost. Can a restaurant write their own rules that say we don't hire women? I just find it weird it's never discussed.

I'm sure if a woman were to tryout and play well enough to make the team, they would be on the team. The problem generally comes in that women usually play softball in high school and college, so they're not scouted, which would mean they have to work their way through the farm leagues.

That being said, no team is going to play a female just to show they can play. Professional sports are about winning, and coaches and managers do what it takes to get the most wins.

okkk...but there are MILLIONS of women in every country -- odd to me NONE OF THEM apply themselves to TRY and make the mlb.

No, that was a women's baseball league-- hence the title.

There's no rules against it, but the chances of a woman having the physical ability to play at a major league level are slim to none. The only way I could see it would be as a pitcher, likely one relying on a knuckleball or some other pitch with a lot of movement to make up for having less speed on her pitches. Someone already mentioned Pitch, which had a pretty good idea of how it would go if a woman ever made it to the majors.

I've also seen a few different anime series that explore the idea of girls sports against the guys. For baseball specifically, Princess Nine is a fantastic example of this, using Japan's famous Koshien high school baseball tournament at the setup for a team of girls trying to compete against the normal male teams.
