Bowser, Guts Man and a Roach have challenged Earthworm Jim...& Knuckles to a fight! Location of the fight: New Junk City - A junkyard filled with springy tires, pits with junkyard dogs, and a teeter totter with a refrigerator hanging over it in the middle. No other enemies are present and access to the rest of the Earthworm Jim world is banned. Attackers will start by the fridge, with defenders starting at the site of Chuck's boss arena.. Which side will win?


Guidelines

- The fight will occur in real-time (like an FMV sequence). Gameplay mechanics are less important than how the characters would function in a real-time environment.
- The members of each team are ideal teammates capable of a pre-selected plan of battle.
- "Broken" refers to a lot of things, including insta-death, auto-effects, a variety of status effects (e.g., Imp, Silence, Stop, *not* Poison), and revival. Unless stated otherwise, nobody has them, though do use your own discretion.
- There may be SPOILERS from all of the games the characters are from.

Bowser is as he appears in Super Smash Bros. 4, with his full moveset (except for his Final Smash and game mechanics like double jump and overshield), all of his abilities from Super Mario Galaxy, Bowser's Inside Story, and limited use of his Mario RPG spells. He may use his minion summoning techniques from Bowser's Inside Story. He is piloting the Koopa Clown Car from Super Mario World, complete with an infinite supply of Goombas and Koopa Troopas to lob at people.

Guts Man is as seen in Mega Man. He does not shake the ground so hard when moving that he automatically knocks people down, and he may throw things that aren't special blocks. He is not limited to using his boss patterns exclusively.

Roach is as seen in Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm. It is fully upgraded, but is the base form and not a variant strain. It will not follow any plans made by its team, choosing instead to actively seek out and engage the enemy team. It will enter the battle 30 seconds late, and has an extra worm! (This does nothing, but is a worm!)

Guts Man is huge! He has knocked all of the enemy team down. They will start the match knocked down.

Earthworm Jim is as powerful and GROOVY as he is depicted in Earthworm Jim 1 and 2. He has his power suit, his trusty blaster with max ammunition, 9 shots of mega plasma, his bubble gun, Three Finger Gun and Homing Missiles from Earthworm Jim 2. and his head (which can be used as a whip, copter, rope, etc.). He also has access to his pocket rocket.

Knuckles is as he appears in the Sonic games, an echidna who can glide along with his trademark strength, punching, and digging abilities.

So this turf is really conducive to Jim being able to wreck face. He now has his pocket rocket which is both fast enough to use as a space ship and is also simultaneously a Giant blaster gun with infinite ammo.

This spells disaster for Bowser, even clown car Bowser because Jim is faster, more maneuverable and considerably out guns him (giant blaster gun>>>some goombas).

It also spells disaster for Gutsman who Knuckles is absolutely designed to dunk on. This stage features a lot of great points to glide and climb and make it from the starting point to the end. The stage isn't the biggest in the first place but with flight and great platforming skills he should get up from Gutsmans thing and be on his way no problems.

From there...punking on robots is kinda what knuckles does. Hes also good at defeating big fat bosses in robots for that matter. Its just kind of WHAT HE DOES. Here's some proof:

here's knuckles in the comic book in the mega man crossover in the Archie comics taking on concrete and stone mans 2 on 1 - Knux laying waste to robot masters. Knux also punches holes in the side of a lab and punches his way into a wily machine in this (officially licensed) comic.


Here is also one of knuckles most important power showings lorewise (even if the video isn't that impressive) he punches a boulder into sonic so hard it knocks him out of super sonic mode - which would be akin to hitting goku so hard he fell out of super saiyin mode. At 11:05

I had a hard time finding video of it but Knux has also in cutscene punched thr master emerald into pieces to prevent egg man from stealing it and regularly punches through boulders. I have a feeling he can punch the these guys out.

Between how fast these two are gonna be able to zip around this otherwise hard to navigate terrain I fully expect one or both of Gutsman and Bowser to be history by the time Roach shows up. From there Knux's super strength and agility combined with Jims superior firepower, including his super plasma gun should keep the roach contained and defeated especially since Roach lacks any real ways to handle an aerial opponent. Jim doesn't even really need to aim with the homing missiles which makes him even better here. Woooo doggie thats gonna be a roasted roach

Tldr - Knux super strong and agile. He stars in a platformer, can burrow pretty fast and basically specializes in beating on robots like Gutsman. Jim on the pocket rocket is super fast and has a giant blaster gun and has some serious sidearms now between the three finger gun homing missiles and the mega plasma.

In my mind this comes down to Knuckles vs. Roach. I don't respect either of their backup that much, so I feel like the winner can probably clean up whoever's left.

Not sure who I favor. iirc Roach spits disintegrating acid, which is pretty good? But I'm not sure if it's tagging Knux in the first place.

God isn't here unfortunately - as he informed. So since I know the roach and it's so important to the match, have a bit of lore on them. This all comes from the short story Acid Burns, which prominently features the Roaches.

First, Roaches are TOUGH:

Brach saw roaches burrowing into the ground, letting the dusty, cracked surface of the moon swallow them up, safe from harm. Some were injured; others burrowed as a preemptive defense. The banshees would need something more powerful than stingers to take out these particular zerg.

tl;dr missiles vs roaches, they score injuries, not kills. However, they are not immune to explosives. See here:

As the marines poured out into the courtyards, C-14 "Impaler" assault rifles armed and ready, the first roach burrowers broke the cracked moon soil inside the walls. The base lit up with gunfire as Lee's troops took the battle to the zerg. The roaches retaliated with acid blasts, and powerful chitinous limbs that ripped one marine in half while she watched. Another fell as a roach erupted from the ground beneath him. She watched him struggle as it dragged him down, and got only a grim satisfaction when earth and carapace showered out of the hole. The marine had set off a grenade as a last resort.

So we know Jim's explosives can probably kill it, but the hit has to be precise. Mega Plasma is up for grabs but I think it can too. But the fight vs Knux is not gonna be close. See, this is what Roaches do against power armor:

The front roach rose up on its front legs and opened its maw, vomiting a stream of acid as Brach landed on the ramp. It hit him above the right knee, knocking him off-balance. He collapsed on his stomach beside Lee, and she watched in horror as his neosteel armor smoked and dissolved before her eyes.

Yeah. Tears through steel like it ain't there. Worse, it's loaded with septic viroids that basically poison the target fatally of the wounded area isn't amputated fast. The roaches are a menace...the catch is, they can't shoot up. In this same story, Banshees (flying terran vehicles) are deployed against them, and the only response the Roaches have is retreat and burrowing. So this match to me is Jim vs the Roach - cause eventually, they'll be the last fighters standing.

Oh, and backing on the viroids thing:

"Now listen, this is a roach hit. The acid contains viroids that propagate through the nervous system, and a standard nanoscab just exacerbates the process. The only way to neutralize infection is put the whole leg in an alkali bath, shoot it up with bacteriophage virals, then clean and assess." She paused. "But honestly, you'll probably still have to amputate."

So yeah, roaches are the real deal. Very hard to tangle with if you can't fly, very tanky, regenerate fast. Knux is dying quick after it gets there, the question is if Bowser can eat it beforehand (or relatively soon afterward) alongside Gutsman so Jim can blow the Roach the hell up in peace.

and i feel as if jim's weaponry is pretty well suited to take out a roach, since he has plasma guns and his character upgrade in general. but if its a 3v2 and the roach is unchecked, it seems a bit more dicey i suppose. i think i'd still lean jim in being able to deal with a roach and bowser, but i'd have to watch gameplay of roach (i.e. how fast it moves, projectile speed, etc)

On thjs stage i think theyd be hard pressed too. Theres big columns for him to climb up and frankly out running then out punching big enemies is like all knux does in the two Sonic Adventure games.

Keep in mind thr roach is late so bare minimum gutsman is gone by the time he shows up.

Wouldny they all fall off with but a single homing spin dash which is good enough to kill most of robotniks machines and hence probably the clown car too.

I do have enough respect for Pocket Rocket Jim to basically completely take this, but I feel like Knuckles gets into a flex-off with Guts Man because he's gotta be ROUGHER THAN THE REST OF 'EM, don't know if that's a big enough distraction for Roach to do Roach things.

Earthworm Jim. Even in the best-case scenario where Bowser uses that Goomba Fire Rain move to make it Bullet Hell, the Pocket Rocket is just too damn good (I thought it was just a straight line dash monster but forgot completely about its EWJ2 level), far too maneuverable and far faster than the Clown Car (which is honestly probably weaker here than in any other given appearance due to no bowling balls), at a point where Jim is honestly probably much faster than Knuckles and WAY out of everyone on Team Bowser's range.

This match comes down to Roach vs Knux. Jim probably gets a shot on slow Guts Man and then gets hit by Bowser or the roach before Knuckles swoops in and ganks Bowser. The roach likely wants to spend its day burrowing around underground safe from harm after Jim is taken out until it can ambush Knuckles, but since Knuckles can glide, he'll probably be spending his time on towers of junk, safe from harm. The roach will eventually have to pop up, at which point Knuckles will glide towards him, in the air and thus out of range of the roach's acid. He pounces on the roach and lands a punch, shattering a chunk of the roach's exoskeleton. Before he can finish the job, the roach gets a nice acid shot on him. The roach gets obliterated, but his acid is toxic and Knuckles slowly succumbs to his injuries. As his vision fades and his breathing slows, he hears one last, forlorn sound, a low cry echoing throughout the junkyard: "Mooooooooo"
