Well I'm banking a bit on Meta Kane being more naive than me. In video/IRL mafia there are far less roles to go around and they are made aware to all of the players at the start of the game, so that they know exactly what roles exist beforehand. Therefore I dont expect him to adopt a role identity so quickly as scum, in a game where he can choose any role in existence to claim and it might be a little overwhelming. Nor do I expect him to know a large amount of crazy roles that are worse than vanilla. The way he jumped right into claiming a role reads as genuine to me, but a lot of that has to do with player meta.

OMGUS is an often misused argument and I am glad we can have this discussion about mafia theory while we're getting comfy.

So the basic theory behind OMGUS is when someone is attacked/brought under suspicion they react in a way that is either scummy or anti-town and go after the person who made the comment for reasons related to that person's suspicion of them in an illogical sense. It's like throwing dirt in someone's eyes. I see far too often that people don't understand the difference between "I think your reasoning is poor and not really a pro town way of thinking, so I am not feeling you are being pro town in your sentiment" and "Oh my god how dare you, I am going to eat you."

I admit I tend to give people probabilities of behavior based on past experience until I have built a suitable profile inside of my head for them. What grand adventures has Ben done on board 8, Terra?

Okay non bold question first: I say generally. People as scum try their best to be clever and it is hard to fake being naive when you're trying to be sneaky. Not impossible, certainly. Town points isn't a town clear or anything.

But on the other hand that bold part just made me want to give you a gold start of towniness because there's just a certain level of defenselessness that I like.
