MrMallard 05/25/17 7:57:18 PM #42:	This reminds me of when my local cinema did a 50 Shades Darker event. The movie was MA15+, and since it came out like a month later in my town the cinema owner didn't want to go for a month's worth of screenings - 50 Shades Darker wasn't going to fill seats, everyone would have gone out of town to see it when it was new and the movie did terribly. So they decided to have a two-night-only special event for 18+ moviegoers. They served free alcohol, and everyone got a bunch of cake and free fruit and stuff - everyone liked it, despite the movie apparently being terrible. So like I said, the movie is MA15+. That means that 15 year olds can legally see the movie. However, the cinema only had their 18+ event because of the alcohol, and as such couldn't let minors in to see the flick. This pissed off one woman, who wanted to bring her 15 year old daughter. To see 50 Shades Darker. A trash franchise at best, and filth at its worst. She was outraged. She had every legal right to see the movie elsewhere, or her daughter could buy it legally on DVD or Blu-Ray. But she chose to get belligerent and shitty because a trash movie - that wouldn't have made much money at all - got treated to a "naughty" 18+ event, much in the same spirit as the franchise's appeal, so those interested could see the flick without the cinema being obligated to run the movie for 5+ braindead, limping screenings. Of course, you could make the case that the cinema should have stuck to the movie's rating so anyone within the rating's parameters could have seen it. Which would have been this one teenage girl, but by all means she should have gotten to see the movie. But pretty much no other cinema had the program, and I doubt it would have been too long before the Blu-Ray came out. There were alternate means to see the movie, but this one woman was adamant that her daughter be allowed into THIS screening. Even if it doesn't relate much to this instance (I mean, I'm not totally on the side of my local cinema in this case), I felt like telling this story.
