People seem to hate a great majority of Zexal and enjoy some of the later bits. I guess it's similar to GX.

V-Rains doesn't seem too bad atm btw. They're obviously going for the next Yusei/Aki with the main guy and girl.

I was feeling unsure about VRAINS because the concept art I saw looks like Cyberchase or some shit, which I guess is maybe the next logical step past Action Duels, but they were on like hoverboards and it was just weird as fuck

You should be more angry that they wasted a duel on fucking Jack for the third time! When Yuya already dueled a synchro user. And you should be absolutely livid that The show tried to explain the antagonist as a gud boi who didn't do anything wrong, it was society's fault! and the eight pieces just stayed together instead of separating like they should have

Arc-V is a prime example of when they just decided they didn't give a single fuck about the writing, Vrains isn't looking too hot either, the whole thing is an advert for Duel Links and the new rules fucking everybody over unless they play LINKS just proves it even more. Zexal the last Yugioh they actually give a damn about and it shows, it's still the best animated one where as Arc-V and Vrains both look like shit

Far too early to tell where VRAINS will fall, but I think it's off to a decent start. Not great, but decent.

Yes they duel using speed duel format, if you don't know what that is

4000 life
each player has 4 cards in their starting hands rather than 5
3 spells and trap zone
3 monster zones
20 card decks
Skills such as double draw, having a field spell active and raising your life from 100 to 1000

and the anime rules are
if you fall off your board you lose and die/go into a coma
You can dive into the data storm,basically the "water" they surf on since the duels take place in a virtual world and pull out a Link monster

It's animated like shit, it's like Dragonball Super, they realized the show can still look like garbage and it'll sell to the kids because Duel links are so cool!!

Just like Zexal Fusion,Synchro,Xyz and Pendulum card do not exist here Only Links making the duels even more boring.

the main girl of yugioh vrains uses trickstars which are currently my favorite archetype
you get so many rage quits when people online see you using them


all of zexal is terrible
and yeah the first half of arc V is great
then the second half is god awful

and they ruined yuzu. for the first half of the series she frequently dueled and was basically the series co-lead and was praised as the best female lead character in any yugioh series

then all of a sudden in the second half she stopped mattering
its very upsetting that her final duel ended in a loss for her

I don't mind people playing and liking, I mind that Konami is basically trying to replace the game with it. Links didn't slow shit down, they just became an extra step in Rank 4 plays, pendulum nerfing didn't do jack but hurt those decks out of spite or something and the extra deck limit kills all synchro decks who already had trouble getting their monsters out, especially ones like Cardians

the duel structure gradually declined series-by-series tbh. GX/DM filler were still entertaining because of the duels/characters and 5Ds had an interesting enough plot to cover the more shallow duel structure until it loaded itself with filler post-Dark Signers and then holy fuck Zexal jesus fucking christ

Blue haired schoolkid is Yusaku. Rainbow hair dude is his personality in the Link VRAINS (Virtual Reality Artificial Intelligence Networks System.....I think) called Playmaker.

Also, I've seen some of Zexal but never sat down to watch it in its entirety from beginning to end, the large consensus is that the beginning season sucks but picks up a bit at the end (World Duel Carnival) and then becomes great season 2 & 3.

TBH nothing stood out as very badly animated in VRAINS to me besides the fact that the outro 's beginning loops the buildings a couple times

Maybe I have low standards but I didn't notice anything like the awful punches of DBS

The 3d modelling is much better than uncanny Yuya

First 100 episodes are great honestly and Yuya has some story-based qualities that make him a pretty interesting protagonist

Basically Vrains just looks a little more I guess mature so far, like 5Ds. Theyre spending a decent amount of time developing characters and the plot instead of immediately throwing children's card games everywhere. Compare to Arc-V which took like 10 episodes to get an idea of what they were gonna do with it (even if the early action duels were really good)

It starts well. It's a tad bit like "I'm trying to be an edgy badass, please notice me!!!" But unlike Yusei who never says more than what's necessary and says more in his fast and hard decision making, thus looking badass naturally, the new guy hasn't done enough things to truly sell it
