Mid Season Hiatus Day 26

2017 Gold Cup: Panama found themselves in a small hole in the second half once Nicaragua went up 1-0, and then Panama all of a sudden took over to flip the game result to a final score of 2-1.

The US game was interesting, plenty of chances to score, and yet none came for the first half. Everything happened in the second half, and things got pretty crazy. The US at first went up to a convincing 2-0 lead over Martinique, and, with most soccer matches, that type of score would mean the game is over. But no, Martinique responded over a 10 minute period of the game to tie it up to 2-2. Eventually, the US found a way to put a third point on the game, and battled their way through the rest of the game, and hold on and win with a 3-2 score in a fairly crazy second half.

Mirror Magic: Both Starlight and Sunset worked naturally in the episode, and the banter between them was neat to hear. Also, seeing Sunset as a pony, the last time that was seen, dates all the way back to the first movie.

G-Senjou: I quite like Kanon herself (I'm a big fan of positivity, and of confidence that stops short of arrogance) I just don't really like her bits of plot and am not interested in an incest angle. Also I still want to trade Eiichi for Sunohara. Same basic role, but more entertaining and less odious! Also, I'd really like to see Usami accomplish something at some point! She's cool but there are only so many times you can have the heel go over clean and still get excited about the face. ....I say that, and then we got Saijou, so there's that at least!

eh, seems like the people who were saying that weren't entirely familiar with the concept of let's play tbqh (they were saying stuff like "it's just watching some asshole play the game," which totally ignores the aspect of commentary and the importance of that). obviously it's a different experience than playing an MGS game - that's apples and oranges - but that doesn't mean there's no value to be found in watching a good LP of an MGS game.

but it's your topic, so if you're done with watching MGS LPs that's fine, of course.

2017 Gold Cup: The match between El Salvador and Curacao stayed interesting for a while, but as the game wore on, Curacao found nothing but frustration while El Salvador found a game plan that worked, and won 2-0. El Salvador had plenty of chances to make this an even larger margin, but, they just couldn't do better than 2 goals, but, a win is still a win though, so I'm sure they're not complaining about that.

The last match of the night, Mexico versus Jamaica, was somewhat eventful, but nothing like anyone expected, simply because despite some isolated chances, none of the players could find the back of the net with the ball. This one stayed level at 0-0.

2017 Gold Cup: The match between Costa Rica and French Guiana was rather uneventful, but I guess the heat during the match played a major factor in that, with a temperature of 93°F in Frisco Texas during the whole match. But despite that, Costa Rica controlled this game very early on with a goal only 4 minutes in, and then weren't tested all of that much, and the score stayed 1-0 for a long time until about 10 minutes left when Costa Rica sealed it with 2 more goals to end the game at 3-0. French Guiana was also eliminated from the tournament after the loss.

The second game of the night was more of a game, but despite ending at at 0-0 draw, it still had some tense moments throughout. Both Canada and Honduras had some great chances, and on two of those occasions, Honduras should of really scored, if it wasn't for a Canandian defender standing directly in front of the net to kick the ball out just before it could cross the line both times.

Because of these results, both Costa Rica and Canada advance to the knockout round, and Honduras is the first team in the 3rd Place Qualification spot.

Today's matches are the final one's for Group B, with Panama taking on Martinique, and the US against Nicaragua.

2017 Gold Cup: In both of Panama's and the United States games, they won with a 3-0 result. Panama had a very early start against Martinique, and the US took till late in the first half to get their first goal against Nicaragua. In both games, neither team had too much trouble dealing with their opponents, and with those results, the US ended up in first, and Panama took second due to the tie breaker based on number of goals scored between all three games. Nicaragua is eliminated from the tournament with the 4th place result, and Martinique is the second third place team in contention for one of the two final knockout stage spots.

Up next is the last two games of Group C, Jamaica taking on El Salvador, and later, Mexico vs. Curacao.

2017 Gold Cup: In the first match of the day between El Salvador and Jamaica, El Salvador made things interesting when they went up 1-0 after 15 minutes. If it wasn't for a penalty being issued at the 64 minutes to Jamaica, El Salvador could of potentially won, but the penalty kick was successful, and the game was therefore tied 1-1. When time started reaching the last few minutes, both sides decided to be content with the result, and kind of just bided there time, waiting for the final whistle, since a 1-1 draw meant both teams would advance to the later round.

With the last match of the Group Stage, Mexico couldn't easily put away Curacao. Even though Curacao had nothing to play for, since they were already eliminated due to the El Salvador win result, they brought forth a lot of pressure in the game, and despite losing the match, they held Mexico to only 2 goals. The expectation was for a relatively push over match that Mexico would of dominated, but Curacao had many real threatening scoring opportunities, but I was surprised none of those became goals. It seemed even the crowd at the game was impressed with Curacao's performance despite the loss, and it was a rather tough 2-0 result for Mexico.

With the end of the Group Stage, the next two games are scheduled Wednesday with Costa Rica and Panama, followed by United States and El Salvador.

Euphonium 2-13- Early-spring Epilogue: Yuko as president abort abort abort. ....So they took twenty-six episodes to figure out a ship I could get behind, and that's what they do with it? HUMBUG. Anyway. I have complicated feelings about this show. I really liked bits of it, I really DIDN'T like bits of it, and there were plenty of bits I would've liked in the context of a different show. I think that averages out to 9 first season, 6 second season, and a 7ish overall. This particular episode was interesting- it was simultaneously quite satisfying and not satisfying at all. I feel like SOMEBODY should've become a couple after all that to-do, especially since we didn't win Nationals. But...it really did capture the feeling of a graduation. Ehh.

You'd think between multiple TEW games, Fire Pro, and Stardom, the wrestling itch would be scratched. You'd be wrong.

Tiger Mask W 1- The Two Tigers: OH RIGHT this ties in with NJPW. I don't even really know NJPW but it is still kinda weird seeing anime Okada. Frick yes I already love this show I am overdue for some good shonen I think.

G-Senjou: Yuki is very interesting. I don't know how I feel about her yet, but she has gone from "active dislike" to "interest." I don't TRUST her, but I am enjoying her good cop routine. Kanon wants to talk about stuff. It bugs me not to listen, but I am pretty sure that was a "do you want Kanon route" decision point. I do not in fact want Kanon route, even though she is #2 girl currently. Sorry kiddo :\ .....looooool Gonzou. Such a great....villain? Antagonist? Anti-villain? Such a great Gonzou.

2017 Gold Cup: Later today are those two matches against Costa Rica and Panama followed by the United States and El Salvador.

These games use a standard 90 minute format, and if still tied at 90 minutes, the game goes straight to a penalty shoot out to determine the winner. Although, from what I understand, if a game ends in a penalty shoot out, the game counts as a draw record wise.

2017 Gold Cup: The game between Costa Rica and Panama was very much on a course to a penalty shoot out. But one Free Kick awarded to Costa Rica based on a foul on Panama proved to be the game winner, as a defender on Panama tried to use a header swing the ball away from the net, but instead the ball sailed into the net, scoring a goal for Costa Rica. Panama could not recover from the mistake, and lost 1-0 to Costa Rica.

The second game between the United States and El Salvador was really going no where for both teams till very late in the first half when the United States scored two goals only several minutes apart, with the second goal coming just before half time was whistled. The second half was not the best effort by the United States, but they held on to their lead, somehow denying El Salvador on many occasions from scoring any goals, keeping it to a 2-0 result.

Up tonight is Jamaica and Canada, followed by Mexico and Honduras.

2017 Gold Cup: In the first game of the night, Jamaica got things started early with a goal in the first 6 minutes, and then fended off Canada's chances for the remainder of that half. In the second half, Jamaica came away with another goal early once again to make the score 2-0, but about 10 minutes later Canada did finally respond to cut Jamaica's lead by 1. Jamaica did limit the damage to to just that one goal, and held on to their 2-1 lead to win.

In the last match of the night, Mexico similarily scored very early to take a quick 1-0 lead only minutes in. After the initial goal, neither Mexico nor Honduras could find a way to score, and the 1-0 score became the final for this one.

The next match is Saturday with the United States taking on Costa Rica.

2017 Gold Cup: A rather high energy game, as both sides battled it out with neither side conceding a goal until the United States found their break through over 70+ minutes later, and then sealing this one for good with another goal just around 10 minutes later, with the 2-0 final score.

Big win for the United States as they advance to the final, and they will be facing off against either Mexico or Jamaica, which will be determined in Sunday night's game.

2017 Gold Cup: At one point, this game looked like it was destined for a penalty shoot out as neither team could find a way to score, but a badly timed foul by Mexico changed all of that. In the waning minutes of the game, the Jamaican players were trying to figure who should take the crucial shot, and then when it was whistled to resume play, one well placed kick left Mexico with no answer to counter the strike that lead to a Jamaican goal. Mexico only had a few short minutes to respond, but ran out of time, and Jamaica would be the one to face the United States on Wednesday for the final.

#FE: Knocked out a bunch of sidequest stuff, and on to chapter 5! Who's ready for Hatanaka heel turn? (unless Maiko is gonna do the honors) Enter-Kingdom is a pretty cool concept at least. Ellie didn't grow on me with a million pop quizzes, but Yashiro on Microwavin' was pretty great. And Tsubasa in a wedding-ish dress. 2017 Gold Cup: In the Final, the United States found success at the end of the first half to take the 1-0 edge against Jamaica. But right in the opening minutes of the second half, Jamaica found a way to tie things up to 1-1. The result stayed level all the way until the final closing minutes, until the United States got the late game goal to retake the lead 2-1, and win the tournament on that result.

Trails: Chapter 1 BEATED! I was not actually expecting a mind control thingy...bit cliche, but I'm okay with it. I'm less okay with Olivier leaving right when I was starting to really like him! (and get used to his skillz) I can't shake the gut feeling that Richard is going to be a bad guy, even though he's hit none of the "eventually going to betray you" tropes.

WoT KoD: BEATED. Let's see what Brandon Sanderson can do!

Cucumber Quest: Chapter 4 beated, I guess? I'm really having a good time with all this, and I'm sad that I'm probably only one update away from current. Peridot and Almond is happening-ish!

Pokemon: Guzma has been squashed like a bug, pun intended, and now I'm sad to see the end of the Po Town segment. Also, Dugtrio is rapidly becoming viable, and might just lock down the last spot on my team. He's got a few more levels under his belt, and Rock Tomb and Iron Head have given him a bit more punch.
