into haterno village! a kid offers to show me something and... it's a creepy rock carving... and it talks oh crap

You can actually turn the entire maze upside down to get a flat surface with no walls and then you can kind of flick the platform to catapult the ball into the trigger point.

Most of the shrines have a bunch of solutions.

i talk to this lady who 'for some reason' looks like a loli (thanks japan!). she's got a lot of attitude and demands that i return a blue flame. a torch is conveniently in this building!

Yeah that's likely. You could always cook a ton of stamina restoring food, but that'll probably be a pain in the ass. It'll be easier to tame better horses when you have more stamina.

It didn't really seem that hard to me. Took about three stamina potions to tame a solid color horse which was pretty easy to make.

It's totally worth it. I didn't want any of those dumb "underwear" horses.

All right - I go back in and get my Sheikah Sensor upgraded, then perform a tutorial for Symin using the Sunshroom in the back of the lab. This actually triggers a mini-sidequest in which I head down and collect more Sunshrooms (and have lots of fun taking pics of everything to add to the Compendium!)

After that, I refocus on the 'main quest' of returning to Impa (yawwwn). But I decide to take the scenic route. There's a big pit in which I fight some stone creatures (and snap photos of them). They all drop rock salt, amber, and opal as rewards, which is fun. I finally slay a Fox and a Heron, but they only give raw meat. What's the point of these animals if killing them doesn't give interesting/unique rewards?!

I also encounter a NINJA girl who tries to kill me. I smack her down with the 20-strength sword, but she's on the verge of breaking my badass Shield of the Mind's Eye. :'(

I spend about twenty minutes trying to track a Shrine and finally find it (avoiding a Blood Moon in the process) - taking circuitous routes to get over a cliff, then finding myself above the Shrine (at a waterfall). I go down the waterfall by parasail and find a cave under it. Time to enter Dow Na'eh.

shrine cleared! this one is called 'three boxes,' which winds up being the hint i need. i find out that i can use my magnet power on them, and i eventually carry all three onto the big switch in the middle. it depresses, and i'm able to grab a big magnetic box that lets me get to the goddess statue.

now i've just paid 100 rupees to free the great fairy in a RIDICULOUS scene

she's gained about 40 pounds since her N64 days and looks much more... human.

stumbled upon it blindly after following the old guy. i was going for the cool flowers, happened to talk to a weirdass pumpkin thing and paid the money for cinderella. she upgraded my armor, which is nice.

back here, i'm... presenting a photo i never took, of a mountain gate at the bottom of mount lanayru, west of naydra snowfield. great, i guess? when i need it?

i go back to impa, who tells me to check out some of the locations in the photographs. she also marks the locations of the four divine beasts for my edification.

Daka Tuss cleared! Had to use magnesis to control the big bowl underwater, scoop up the balls, and move them into the spaces where they would trigger reactions. The second time, it took me a while, but you have to use to big bowl to depress the underwater switch, after having moved the ball on top of a trap door.

The treasure chest reward here - a badass Zora Longsword. Awesome.
