Little Mac has challenged Terra Branford to a fight! Location of the fight: WVBA boxing ring - The standard ring for fights in the Punch-Out series.. Which side will win?



Guidelines

- The fight will occur in real-time (like an FMV sequence). Gameplay mechanics are less important than how the characters would function in a real-time environment.
- No armor or weaponry allowed, and all attacks are limited to punches
- "Broken" refers to a lot of things, including insta-death, auto-effects, a variety of status effects (e.g., Imp, Silence, Stop, *not* Poison), and revival. Unless stated otherwise, nobody has them, though do use your own discretion.
- There may be SPOILERS from all of the games the characters are from.

Rules for Voting

- Bold your votes (using bold HTML tags).
- You do not need to require justification for your vote, though the admins reserve the right to disqualify votes in the advent of obvious alt voting and other similar scenarios.
-Leaders cannot vote for their own teams (and players from the same pool may not vote as well), but they are free to argue their case.
- If you want to switch your votes simply bold the change; there's no need to delete your post, though you may if you wish.
- This match will end in 2 hours or 7 votes, whichever is later, to a maximum of 6 hours.


Little Mac is as seen in Punch Out!! for Wii and SSB4 (minus game mechanics). In the context of this fight, he can use his Star Uppercut technique as freely as he wants, so long as the opening presents itself.

Terra Branford is as she appears in Dissidia and at the end of FF6A, equipped with full Genji armour, Apocalypse, a Hero Ring, and a Gold Hairpin. She has all her natural magic, as well as those gained from Unicorn and Bahamut, including Raise. She does not, however, have Arise, Teleport, Break, Graviga, or Meltdown. She can enter Trance form at any time for 30 seconds (which also grants her access to EX mode), although it will go on cooldown for 2 minutes upon ending.

So it's a boxing match between Little Mac and Terra. This is a matchup that favors Little Mac. Terra's strength is in her magic, not her physical abilities. She's also a swordswoman, so she doesn't have much experience fighting with her fists. She's out of her element here, and that's going to hurt her fighting ability.

Meanwhile, this is right in Mac's wheelhouse. He's a decorated boxer who beat Mike Tyson despite being half his weight. Here's a video of Mac's fight vs. Tyson: https://youtu.be/I3z0hfezu9M?t=24m36s. If he can dodge Tyson's punches, Terra's punches should be easy.

Now Terra might have her morph, but she can only use it for 30 seconds. If Mac can dodge Tyson enough to beat him, he can dodge Terra for 30 seconds. Remember, Tyson's uppercuts one-shot Mac and he still won. Morphing isn't going to give her any boxing experience, so she's still the same bad boxer she'd be normally, just with more power. It's not going to be enough to beat Mac.

I think some 2/Weeks could probably handle Mac. DK for one (he's one of the hardest in Punchout even when treating it as a total joke), possibly Johnny Cage. And highest upkeep that'd lose is 6, because if it comes down to punching there's no way Kuja manages.

Basically Mac is strong because he's really good at dodging telegraphed shots and counterpunching. I feel like he runs into a brick wall once he meets people with enough speed to tag him *and* enough overwhelming strength to knock his block off.

Ironically if Videogame Tyson fought like Actual Tyson and focused on moving around instead of throwing endless bombs, he'd probably eat Mac alive

this is often a subject of debate. the rules just say that "all attacks are limited to punches," so in my opinion healing/haste/protect would be fine, but something like fire 2 wouldn't.
