Also everyone in here makes a very good point. My parents might not even know / think there's an issue. Hell there might not even be an issue, and I am constantly blowing up what I want for myself out of proportion.

The issue is everyone else wanting/expecting certain things of me because of what they experienced in their own lives. Is there really anything wrong with the life I am leading right now besides certain people not "agreeing" with it? I'm perfectly happy with my life for the most part.

No, I complain because I'm bored, and easily discouraged.

Most recently, I have taken up semi-compeititive hardware overclocking as a hobby and entered into this:

You'll notice that I'm currently in 2nd place (which is really cool) but several users still have impartial results (basically to fuck with me amirite?) I'm having a good time, but I know at this point I'm not going to place and all of the time and effort I've put into min-maxing mysystem over the past month is going to be for nothing.

I just need something that can occupy my time that I'm good at (and I can physically prove that). I just can't seem to find anything. I am just a very below-average person.

Kinda selfish to complain about your life sucking when that already puts you at a great advantage over most people for at the very least having the means to improve your situation. Get a membership to a nice gym or some kinda club. Maybe join one if those rock climbing gyms or something

Buy your own house. If you make good money that should be a cakewalk for you. A good job and a house automatically puts you on a pedestal compared to most other dudes when it comes to dating.

It's easy to make those suggestions you made, but without evaluating his mental health alongside them then he won't get very far. If he wants to get physically fit at the gym, he should also get mentally and emotionally fit so he doesn't regress.

I started to crack jokes around people at work and I slowly got to know more and more of them.
My boss is daily screwing around with me along with a bunch of other people.

What I'm saying is don't think too much and just try to enjoy yourself and people will start to enjoy being around you as well.

Well, i believe that a healthy body can lead to a healthy mind but obviously it's not always that simple. Worth a shot though. Just taking little steps to get yourself out of the house with a gym or some other kind of club membership can go a long toward making you feel better about yourself

But yeah, it's not a bad idea to see a therapist and get a prescription for anxiety or whatever mental ailment you might have but I'd at least try to sort it out without medication first

He doesn't need to see a therapist who prescribes medication, either. Professional counselors are trained in various interventions to address and alleviate anxiety.

A reputable counselor would start a relationship with a client by meeting you where you are and helping you to get where you want to be. He can go as often as he feels necessary, whether that's every week or once a month.

Putting aside the obvious answer of "actually meet people," temper your standards for "interesting." You don't need somebody that impresses you with how fascinating and extraordinary the things they do are. In fact, that's a terrible thing to look for, simply because basing your relationship and interest on that is going to mean you'll lose interest if they drift away from doing those things, or if the novelty wears off. Instead, just find somebody you have fun with.

This whole idea flies out the window when I tell people I don't want to "go out and do things". I think the initial premise of this thread is wrong. I don't really care for interacting with people or going places. It's not that I can't, or I have some kind of mental illness that needs to be fixed. I typically don't see the fun in it.

Like real world example. Coworkers tell me I should "live life" and give me examples of things I Could do, and even say "Yea I'll do something with you". I decline, not because I don't like them, but because I'm not interested. Same thing with a friend I have that lives nearby. I don't want to do things with him, but that's mainly due to self-esteem issues.

Also RE: I need mental help. I think this is a misunderstanding that people seem to have over the internet. I Have never had someone in real life tell me this. I just don't care for social interraction, and feel more comfortable inside my own bubble. That mixed with a short temper, not being able to express myself all that well, and self-esteem issues (Mainly due to having no reason to live) all blow my personality out of proportion, and make people think that I need to "fix" my issues.

I don't. I need to stop bitching all of the time. People have been getting annoyed with my bitching for the past 10-ish years, my parents even more.
