ctes: Charjabug is hillarious. It makes absolutely no sense that it's edgy, but that doesn't matter. The memes that came of Charjabus are pretty good and they don't end there. It's leagues better than any other second evolution of a 3-stage bug type family, which is fortunate because they completely screwed up with its method of evolution. It gets the highest middle placement on my list.

hotdogturtle: Best coccoon bug Pokemon. Funny cube shape and one of the best cries in years. Also has a cool Battery ability that boosts allies' Special Attack. Some guy made a Battle Tree team based around it and did pretty well (at least 50 wins).

NFUN: It's a stupid little battery. Wonderful.

Paratroopa1: CHARJABUG IS FUCKING AWESOME. ALL ABOARD THE FUCKING CHARJABUS. CHOO CHOO. wait busses don't make a choo choo sound. honk honk? wait how does the song go. the wheels on the bus go round and round... nevermind wait I still had some shit I wanted to say about how awesome charjabug is. his fucking eyes! they like, light up and shit. look at his fucking mandibles. they're awesome. okay, that's it. why is he at 23 if I spent this many words writing about him? okay, look, gen 7 is fucking STACKED alright?

StifledSilence: It's a box. Like…a box. But you know, it's a nice box.

Inviso: It's SOOOOO cute. I wanna squeeze the electricity out of it!

Luster Soldier: Apparently, Vikavolts can pick these Pokemon up and use them as a battery. That's pretty amusing. It's a bit of a shame that Charjabug evolves so late in the game (on the fourth island) meaning you're stuck with this thing for quite a while. Thankfully this is manageable with Eviolite, which is available on the second island. Charjabug with Eviolite was more than capable of holding its own late in the game until it is able to evolve into Vikavolt.

Raka_Putra: So unnaturally round and his face is really abnormal.

swordz9: Looks like a tiny bug bus instead of a battery

Cybat: Making the requisite cocoon stage look like a battery is cute and all, but it's still just the requisite cocoon stage. And it lasts for way longer than it needed to.

PrinceKaro: Boring AND stupid bug. Squish it harder.

OrangeCrush: Literally a battery.

hotdogturtle: When the data rips came out it looked like most of the non-UB/Tapu Pokemon weren't looking so good. Then I got to this: INSANE defenses, Regenerator (and some other good but inferior abilities), an exclusive signature Protect move, great defensive typing, access to Scald. I was like, "there's no way that this isn't the best [standard] Pokemon in gen 7". And in fact Toxapex is a beast and I love it.

ctes: Toxapex is like a godsend to someone like me who loves playing stall. While its HP is nothing to brag of, both its defenses are incredible, making it able to tank basically anything it's not weak to and Water / Poison is a great defensive typing with just three weaknesses which are fortunately easy for other fantastic stall Pokemon in OU to take care of. Partly because of ridiculous speed, most generation VII Pokemon that aren't Tapus or Ultra Beasts are completely unviable, but Toxapex isn't and it's by far the best thing that is neither of those. I love using it, it's super cool looking and unique. Fantastic Pokemon all around.

Raka_Putra: Awesome utility

Cybat: I actually really like this thing but holy crap what were they thinking designing it? A strong signature Protect variant, great bulk, and Regenerator?! (My brother used one) It's even more annoying because it actually has a cool signature ability too but why would you bother using it?

Brayze_II: do you know the story about crown of thorns starfish, and how fishermen knew they were a problem, and when they caught them, they cut them into little pieces and threw them overboard BUT that didn’t kill them and instead each of those pieces regenerated into a new starfish? this story is not actually true but they can survive being cut in half (not into thirds) (science has been done to test this)

mnkboy907: Super missed opportunity for a Poison/Steel-type imo.

Inviso: Cool enough, but very weak and very slow. Maybe better for competitve battling, but it's a Water-type, so…meh.

So with 4 of lefty's top 10s now revealed, I'm trying to think of what else would be in his top 10 besides Alolan Exeggutor. I normally stayed away from predicting fully evolved Pokemon for lefty's top 10 since I know he usually prefers NFEs, but I think Palossand is another fully evolved Pokemon that could be on his top 10.

Popplio seemed to finish around what I expected from it. At least I can feel pretty good that Primarina did better than what I was expecting from it.

The biggest surprise so far is that Tapu Lele is going to do a lot better than what I expected, because I wouldn't have been surprised if it finished in the 70-79 range.

For the record Marshadow got ranked pretty low by me and a good bit of it was because he basically doesn't exist yet.

Also I dropped out of the competitive scene pretty quickly after RuSa launch because the gameplay just didn't appeal to me(A lot less thinking, a lot more team A beats team B). So cute and fuzziness gets a much higher appeal to me now.

Also the entire Popplio line has grown on me over time(Most starters actually have aside middle grass and Zangiefcat).

Luster Soldier: I just know this Pokemon won't be doing very well in the final rankings, if Pokemon of the Year was any indication. This Pokemon is super cute and feminine, which is virtually a death sentence to any Pokemon that wants any chance of being well-liked. The haters of this Pokemon better watch out, because it has the power to rip your Pokemon team apart in Pokemon battles. It's a real terror in competitive play, because it has the Psychic Surge ability to set the Psychic Terrain field upon entering battle, granting it a 1.5x boost on Psychic moves on top of the regular STAB boost. Combine it with a Choice Specs, and it can obliterate almost any Pokemon with a Psychic move (excludes Darks and 4x resistances).

Brayze_II: eh too obvious

OrangeCrush: Anyone without Tapu Lele in their top 20 is racist against cute Pokemon.

pyresword: I actually didn't realize how great Tapu Lele was until doing this ranking. The sprite they use on Pokemon Showdown really doesn't do this thing justice.

Paratroopa1: wow look at tapu lele coming in here and making psychics all RELEVANT again, what is this gen fucking 1? (no, it's way better)

ctes: Tapu Lele's design is interesting and it's typing is cool. It's probably gonna outclass Mega Gardevoir quite a bit when that comes out. Tapu Lele does have the best terrain of the four, blocking priority is really good and fits perfect to the psychic one, seeing as sucker punch and pursuit can hit really hird otherwise. Setting that up for free is fantastic!

Cybat: Silly hair but I still like this design overall. And it helps that it is really powerful even before Psychic Terrain.

NFUN: I haven't played much Gen VII Pokemon Showdown, but I've played enough to say "Fuck this guy"

Inviso: Generic female legendary that's more forgettable than Fini or Koko.

Raka_Putra: Moe.

StifledSilence: If you want Lays so bad, go to 7-11 and get your own bag!

Ermine: A shame all of the Tapus are awful except for Koko.

XIII: I sympathise with this guy

hotdogturtle: I love the Amplitude on PS4, which has a plot about a patient in a coma. So the fact that there's a coma Pokemon is really funny to me.

OrangeCrush: Drunk panda FTW

Raka_Putra: Drowsy is a fun ability.

Inviso: I like the concept of a perpetually sleeping Pokemon, but I just never really used this that much.

Luster Soldier: It took us this long, but we finally got a Koala Pokemon and at least it's cute. I thought it would have an evolution just looking at the design, but it's a standalone Pokemon instead.

ctes: Komala has a very interesting ability with a lot of cool mechanics and an imunity to tons of things and abilities. Unfortunately, the ability is stuck on an otherwise useless Pokemon. Komala is decent design wise, but it's useless, comes with the ever boring mono normal type, which hurts it quite a bit.

Cybat: Clever name and an interesting gimmick. Too bad it doesn't evolve or have better stats or moves. And what's with the log?

StifledSilence: Add an M and call it a day.

mnkboy907: I'm not sure what they did, but they somehow made a koala Pokemon and it wasn't totally adorable. It just kinda exists. Surprisingly strong, though.

hotdogturtle: I knew that Instruct would be fun as soon as it was revealed, and it lived up to the hype. There's a whole subset of Instruct-based teams around the Battle Tree community. I do like Oranguru's design as well.

Cybat: I was going to use one on my team because the Pokedex made it seem like it would evolve. Sigh. Still a fun design though, it's entertaining how many you interact with in towns and stuff. Also, Instruct is cool.

Luster Soldier: When both Oranguru and Passimian were revealed, some people just couldn't resist mentioning Harambe. Even though neither Pokemon is based on a gorilla, it didn't stop the Harambe jokes about these 2 Pokemon. Had the Harambe meme happened many years ago instead of several months prior to the reveal of these 2 Pokemon, probably no one even brings up Harambe when talking about these 2 Pokemon. Either way, the Harambe meme is rather old at this point and needs to die off because it's not funny anymore.

swordz9: King Louie Pokemon

Paratroopa1: I can't get over the fact that this thing speaks in broken pieces of human language that makes it so delightfully weird and awesome in a way I wasn't at all expecting. hey by the way you made an ape pokemon that I don't hate, good job game freak, you did iiiiit.

mnkboy907: Orangutans are frankly one of the ugliest animals. Unsurprisingly an orangutan Pokemon is also ugly.

ctes: Oranguru is super lame. Seems like something they made because they've begun making more type combinations with normal, which had almost none until generation VI, but then you remember they actually made Girafarig ages ago. There was really no point in making two of these stupid monkey's. I don't know if they have any viability in doubles due to their abilities, as I never ever play that, but they're utter trash otherwise. One was enough. This one looks a lot worse and has the less preferable stat distribution by far.

Inviso: Weak as fuck and only really good for multi-battles.
