I told you, you're out of the loop regarding what's popular and what isn't. In past generations, you had a history of being low in the outlier. Even in Gen VI, you were almost near the bottom of the outlier rankings.

Your declining interest in Pokemon has finally caught up to you and you don't even have a clue what's popular or not popular. You're no longer "Mr. Generic" when it comes to Pokemon opinions, as you're in the Top 10 of the outlier rankings for this generation.

With extremely few exceptions, you shouldn't expect a middle starter to beat out the first stage or final evolution.

Although a first stage beating out a final evolution also quite rare as well, with Squirtle, Totodile, Snivy, and Fennekin being the previous cases of this happening.

I finally decided Incineroar is my #1, motherfucker is awesome. Really takes something for a pokemon designed around a wrestler to make me like it so much when I really don't much like wrestling in general.

I think a good chunk of the rankers hadn't played the games and are rating mainly on design, which helped out the cute Pokemon and NFEs. If this had been run for the first time 3 years from now, I think the top 10 would be quite a bit different.

Also it doesn't really make any sense because every Pokemon in the top 10 aside from Ninetales is something that's fairly prevalent or well-featured in the game somewhere

I suspect we ran this list a little too early. Sure, 6 months is enough for most people to get around to playing the game, but probably isn't enough time to allow them to properly decide on their favorites. There's still plenty of time left in this generation for the anime, we haven't even done PRBL for Gen VII yet, and there's also new games coming up later this year.

Also, some people didn't fill out a list because they didn't play the games yet, since they were waiting for a third version or sequels before they jump in and play the games. I know MSG didn't even play Sun/Moon yet because he was waiting for a third version or sequels, although he did fill out a list based solely on design alone.

I am not sure at all what was on my mind when i ranked Zangiefcat that high.

I mean maybe not that different, but I think getting 3 NFEs along with Ribombee in the top 10 is a bit different from how these usually play out. Which isn't a bad thing.

The thing is Litten's design is more universally inoffensive rather than the anthropomorphic, aggressive, bipedal Incineroar.

Yeah, I think a lot people used it due to most of the new Pokemon being slow. If you wanted a fast Pokemon from the new batch of Pokemon, you were limited to the following - Alolan Raichu, Alolan Ninetales, Alolan Dugtrio, Alolan Persian, Ribombee, Lycanroc (Midday Form only), Salazzle, Comfey, and Minior (Core Form).

Out of those, Comfey is the only one that wouldn't really be a good option for in-game use because of serious movepool issues. I set the cutoff for fast/slow at base 100 speed, but there are some Pokemon like Oricorio, Togedemaru, Mimikyu, Bruxish, Solgaleo, and Lunala that fall into the 90-99 speed range and would still be above average in speed for this slow generation.

Mimikyu, Solgaleo, and Lunala are very viable for in-game use, although Solgaleo/Lunala are limited by being obtained very late in the game. I'm only counting Pokemon obtainable before the Elite Four, so no Tapus or Ultra Beasts.

Looking over my list, I ranked my 29 too high. It was one of the few that I had planned on doing a writeup for before I even started my list, so when I got to the ranking, I was too focused on the positives and my judgement was clouded from seeing all of the negative things that I disliked about it. Fans of this Pokemon, you're lucky.

And then my 94... I knew that I was going to be the outlier on this one, but I wondered if I was too harsh on it anyway. But then I take a look at the rest of my list and realize that I don't have any emotional attachment to this Pokemon; I don't care about it even a tiny shred. I have nothing to say about it, unlike a lot of the Pokemon in my 70s and 80s, which I at least kind of like even if they got outranked by the better stuff.
