Did you also read the 6 novels from Esslemont, and if so, are they were reading as well? Neither of the prequel trilogies are done yet, so I'm not going to bother with them for now. Currently on the 4th book of the series and still missing the 10th, but this seems like a good time to start gathering them if they are worth getting as well.

I never read the Dresden Files, but I saw the tv show. It's like reading except with images and voices so you aren't stuck just picturing stuff in your mind.

I have about half of these, and yes, I also recommend them for fleshing out several things in the back story. Definitely pay attention to the overall reading order, though.

K, think I'll get the 6 Esslemont novels to read after I finish the main series then.

I liked the Dresden Files TV show actually. I LOVE the books (doesn't even compare) , but I still liked the show.

One of the reasons I actually watched Arrow was cause Dresden was in it.

I never could get through the Malazan series, much like SoI&F....which I also gave up on.

Read all the True blood books (and finally watched the series a few years ago as well.

I hate books that have tonsof characters and jump around from story to story, I wish they would just stick with one freaking story.

Yeah, I read all of them. The Esslemont novels are a little more hit and miss, but they cover a lot of stuff in the world and overlap the main story as a whole. Enough so that I'd include them as part of the series.

I'm trying to read Gardens of the Moon but it's a fucking slog.

I will tell you what I told Dragon originally: Book 1 is the weakest of the entire series. Once you get through that, it really takes off.

Yeah, the only reason I got through the first book was the introduction by the author. He basically says that "average readers" won't be able to handle the first novel, daring you to adjust to the crap factor. I read that garbage to show him! It's worth it, but goddamn the first book sucks.
