Sweet, going to get my 120 Relics after all. That was...significantly easier than I thought it would be, especially since I had less than 30 just a couple days ago. That's pretty darn achievable on a weekly basis, even with a box of nothing but 3-4 star units being sent out. I'm actually a little miffed, the S-rank mission I had yesterday for a Limit Pot required Jake to send out, and I haven't gotten that far in the story. Not a huge loss, but still a bit obnoxious. I'm considering doing a couple of Lapis refreshes to blast through a huge chunk of the story tonight, seeing as I'm sitting on 20k and want to have access to all the areas so I can do quests and key hunting at my leisure. Especially since we have that FFXII event coming up, and I know all my stamina should be going towards that.

What I meant is that you are just as likely to pull him as you would WoL (except during rates up for either), so it's kind of hard to call him budget version. A budget version tank would be Cecil due to his 3* rarity making him easier to obtain.

So since I'm only up to Zoldaad, at this point it's

I can't stand Lasswell. Nothing about what he does or how he behaves makes sense, nor do I ever get the feeling that he considers Rain a friend. Rather, he treats Rain like an obligation, and there's no sincerity behind anything he does. His jealousy/inferiority complex coupled with his bizarre hero worship just makes things worse.

Fina is just the stereotypical JRPG damsel with amnesia. Next!

Dark Fina wins points for at least knowing what's going on, and loses a ton of them for not sharing because she feels the need to be cryptic. I've seen enough games where being uncommunicative serves no purpose other than to drag the plot out (Hi Bravely Default!), and this is one of those times.

Jake seems like he'll be good comedic value later on, but unlike a womanizing character that actually has some depth to him that I like (Zelos from ToS), the most I get from Jake is he's very dedicated to his resistance movement. Not a fan of how he basically framed us into getting on the Empire's bad side. Not that it wouldn't have happened anyway, but still. Dick move.

Nichol doesn't have a lot going for him other than his tactical mind, which is a trait I like. He's not horribly obnoxious, and I enjoyed how he came around at the end of the Olderion arc, so nothing terribly offensive here. Basically, he wins out by not having much of anything bad to say about him so far.

Rain falls into the "Annoyingly Enthusiastic" breed of main characters that I don't necessarily hate, but don't necessarily like. His optimism is, however, very welcome compared to how dour Lasswell is, and actually has skill and some experience behind is as opposed to Fina's naive optimism. His daddy issues...eh, maybe if they actually bothered to explain it, I could see it. Tidus' issues with Jecht were developed a lot over the course of FFX, and I could actually understand the tension. Here, I can't tell what's driving it, especially with the very confusing messages I'm getting from Lasswell. And for that, I blame Lasswell.

Lid is just...Lid. She's awesome, she has an amazing dream, and I can't wait to see how the story goes with her brother. That's some very good family drama right there, and it's going to be a very good conflict down the line. Shame she's more or less been relegated to comedic value at this point.


So I've got 20k lapis right now thanks to all I've saved up from the story, and goddamn is it tempting to pull on the banner tomorrow. Not even for anything specific, just to see if I can nab a few additional units here or there. I'll admit Ashe is pretty temping, but I don't think she's strictly necessary (though let's face it, with Tilith, WoL, Rikku, very little is strictly necessary), while everything else seems like inferior versions of what I already have (see previous parenthesis). I'm going to make a decent story push tonight, as I want to finish up Zoldaad before all my stamina gets dumped into the FFXII event. After that, I may pop into the story here or there to do quests and collect some keys, but that's about it for a while.

Rasler's Sentinel is 30% opposed to Cecil's 75%.

Chance to protect all allies (20%) with damage mitigation (30% physical, 30% magic) for 1 turn to caster in comparison with WoL's 50/50/50.

The only things he got over the others is better performance in terms of def/spr/atk, Esunaga+ Patriotic Slash.

I don't think you still understand. You can't call someone a "budget" anything if he's just as common as what you are comparing him to. You can only call things more common than your comparison as "budget" items.

A budget unit is something people have to make do with because it's easier to get, not because it's worse in performance. Rassler is a worse Alternative to WoL, not a Budget variant

And in any case Rassler is rarer than WoL even in his own Banner so he's budget nothing
