Regarding Trump targeting CNN way more than other news sources that are just as (if not more) critical of him, I'm pretty sure it's because he feels personally betrayed by Jeff Zucker after having run The Apprentice on NBC when Zucker was over there.

Basically the same reason he's feuding with Joe and Mika instead of like Rachel Maddow.

it's a wrestling gif. they are actively blowing their load on the wrong thing and then will complain when it joins the club of things cried about that get dismissed when they're actually valid.

You know it's a meme
I know it's a meme

There just has to be one idiot psycho that doesn't know it's a meme and is encouraged to actually go out and harm a journalist for it to no longer be a joke. The president doesn't get the luxury of joking about violence (just like his "Second Amendment, people" "joke").

This is the story of the Left Resistance in a nutshell.

Hyperbole and hysterics, which numb the average voter to things that actually do warrant serious debate and discussion and provide zero alternative to vote for.

Setting aside how dumb it is we're even having this conversation.

This is the President of the United States. The "Leader of the Free World", shitposting at the level of a teenage memelord.

But nah, that's the new normal.

I remember literally less than a year ago people calling Obama and Michelle "non-Presidential", and now those same people are like "Hehe YEAH Trump you trigger those snowflakes hehe *pepe / other wholly unoriginal meme*"

it's not that this is the first or last.
it's that they're actually saying this joke is a sign of it. that they don't understand that him shitposting is definitely something his base and more like. that they don't realize that by saying this is an example, they're putting into question all the other cases which have been valid and saying that maybe those can be dismissed too.

if you're going to call memes and shitposts as signs of him having mental issues, you're going to lose the entire argument that he has actual mental issues. it's a trap and they're actively falling for it. that's particularly frustrating for me because i DO agree that there's reason to think his mental health is a problem but this? this ruins that. it's the same way FAKE NEWS took off - sure, there's a lot of valid stories but by chipping at a few examples where media fucked up, gradually the whole thing starts to look that way and people will call it as such. the cracks become all people see.

LordoftheMorons posted...

unless they're powerbombing a CNN logo, no, it's still a joke. and it always will be because he's giving the CNN logo a clothesline. this isn't giving the reaction of "oh boy, time to go after a person!" it's shitting on CNN again. which is something he's pretty consistent at and people like.

and yes, this is unpresidential, silly, etc.
but that's exactly what people wanted when they voted him in and it's one of the only likable charms about him widely across the right and some of the left. but note, he also made fun of that: he himself admit he's not presidential, he's modern day presidential.

modern day is about to become current year's successor and it's going to be another meme to stack on this one.

You are delusional if you think every WANTS to work and TRIES to. I know ppl when ue would be extended like 19 months or whatever back in the day who purposely applied to ceo jobs and shit that they werent qualified for just to satisfy their 2 applications a week requirement to extend their unemployment to stay on it while working under the table. People game the system all the time. And if you don't think it happens then you are naive.

i know people game the system. i personally know several people who do.

not sure how this is relevant to "moogle was lying about there being more adults than jobs."

When people game the system just so they don't starve to death, they're considered lazy, entitled leeches.

This seems a bit backwards.

Or is it only allowed when the president is a democrat? I also love these people claiming this will cause violence against journalists when those journalists literally call for and support violence toward conservatives and no one on the left says a word.

So basically both sides are biased, shocker

To me though I kind of see this as another example of him being pretty trashy. It's just so trashy. The facelift stuff, the constant sniping, him posting a gif in which he attacks a news outlet he dislikes. It's just trashy and childish and it makes the presidency impossible to take seriously. If you think about how badly the US population came out of the Bush era - lol they elected a guy that says misunderestimated - think about what Trump does every day he engages in shit like this. It's tabloid presidency, low-brow trash from a man who is supposed to represent the most powerful nation on earth. It just lacks any kind of dignity or, I dunno, class.

The high-minded "he's inciting violence!" stuff doesn't wash with me so much. I can see why you might stretch to that conclusion but I don't see it. I don't fear Trump, particularly, but he does just come off as a goddamn childish buffoon all the fucking time and that's legitimately bad for the entire world, or certainly for western democracy. I fear that NRA ad far more than Trump (god fuck the NRA so much).

Yeah the thing is I don't care about the gif itself so much as what it kind of represents - it's another example of Trump being so...lacking. I feel like strong surface representation is like a baseline for being a leader of a civilised country. He's supposed to be the best of you, your leader, someone to look up to, someone who doesn't get bogged down in trivial nonsense every fucking day. It's not just that he posted a wrestling gif, it's that he wastes his time embroiling himself in a war with a news outlet he dislikes, complaining about their coverage of him night and fucking day instead of getting shit done. And then you come to the manner in which he did it - with a wrestling meme. Even that astonishing statement that Spicer made to speak out against the media in his first press conference would be better than this classless garbage.

Just a reminder that Trump isn't winning the war with the media

http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/cable-news-ratings-cnn-fox-news-msnbc-q2-1202479416/

MSNBC is up a whopping 86% in total viewers in primetime compared to second-quarter 2016. CNN saw a 39% leap in adults 25-54 in total day.

In total day, Fox News led with 1.47 million total viewers, up 27% from the same period last year.

CNN had its most-watched first quarter in 14 years, both in the key demo and in total viewers, while Fox News put up the highest-rated quarter ever in cable news history in the total day viewership.

This right here is why this irritates me so much. And it's worse than Obama doing it once every 3 months. Where is the Gilbert and Sullivan sense of duty and obligation? Where is the studious nature of a Lincoln? Where is the desire to set humble and healthy precedent like Washington? Where is the forward thinking of a Monroe?

Yeah - like on the one hand as someone opposed to his agenda its great. He gets the GOP so bogged down in his bullshit that theyre about to end their legislative session for the year having accomplished almost nothing. No budget, no tax cut no healthcare bill in spite of a majority in both houses of congress and the white house.

If he were to resign Monday, Pence might actually be able to use the White Houses role as a leader to push these bills across the finish line.

So while it embarasses me every day that hes President conservatives are the ones who should really be pissed at him

Maybe I am just biased but I see a massive difference between cracking a few jokes at a correspondent's dinner and taking to Twitter to post wrestling gifs of you attacking a news outlet to further a whiny agenda you've been pushing since Day 1. One is at least somewhat dignified, I feel. The POTUS, to me, shouldn't really be rolling around in the dirt with everyone else. He shouldn't come off as petty, childish.

I brought up Bush before and he was kind of a joke but at least I could identify him as a president. Even Theresa May I can identify as...not a president, but a prime minister, sure. She sucks, but she fills like the basic aesthetic requirements of a leader's dignity. Macron does too. Even Le Pen did, from what I saw of her anyway. Trump is more in the Nigel Farage or Boris Johnson sort of mold. Johnson is an elected MP, which sucks for that constituency, but god help the country if he was our PM.
