100% truth on that last statement. However, Rollins/Wyatt is debatable for me; they're both 2 of my favorite guys on Raw's roster, but this feud hasn't been interesting at all and both guys' cred has been shot in recent months.

Rollins: Is the only guy to beat Joe on the main roster, spends the next month or two only getting wins over Curt Hawkins
Bray: Beats Cena and Styles twice in a three day span and walked into WrestleMania as world champion. His only win since was with help from Jinder Mahal.

Like Anthem wants to shove its name and owls all over the goddamn place, but does anyone really turn on a wrestling program and suddenly start wondering what company owns them and if they have an animal mascot? I’ll say this for the Dixie Carter, you never saw her repping her parents’ Panda Energy business by bringing a live panda out before a Pay Per View. Actually, that would have been awesome.

But still, god damn. I don't know why they never gave Aries the title or anything to try spicing things up for the Cruiserweights, no matter how good Neville has been.

aries was probably hoping for more but WWE just put him stuck in scripted cruiserweight levels. honestly he should've been on SD where he could've been a lot more natural.

he's also not young anymore. he's 39 and was working in some seriously damaging matches over the years, that's probably taken a toll as his current matches aren't anywhere close to the quality they used to be. hell, half of his moves people just couldn't get into, like the pendulum elbow. i think he was just way too used to indie style wrestling and couldn't make the proper transition.

People don't get into like any of these cruiserweight's moves though. They at dead silent almost all of the time. I honestly have no idea what they can possibly do aside from let them put on awesome matches on Raw so people can go "Oh shit, the cruiserweight's are out! At least we're bound to get a good match!"

But the point of Raw getting the cruiseweights was because they had more time to us them. If they just gave them like 45 minutes a week, they could at least establish them instead of giving them 10 minutes a week and being confused they aren't over.

I thought Aries was fine and did as well as you could expect given his slotting on the card. Definitely wasn't carried by Neville or anything like that. Never hit his heights in other feds but I storylines being less compelling were largely to blame for that I think.

The whole point of it really, was to say these small guys aren't as good as the heavyweights.

It's a presentation aspect really.

WCW had the right idea. You generally segregate the cruisers, but you don't hold a giant neon sign that says "LOOK AT HOW DIFFERENT THESE GUYS ARE." You let the different style do that for them.

Like even on Raw they have a whole damn set overhaul for all their matches, never mind the show.

that is definitely an issue. Neville sort of bridges it by being champ since he's more than just a cruiserweight, he's a guy who is repectable on the normal card too.

but if you don't have them get out of their bubble like he has, you'll never have anybody respect them.

The bubble is honestly fine-- I think booking cruisers against heavyweights isn't good as it exposes their size more than needed.

It's just... it needs to be less visible. Significantly so. Being segregated without it being quite so explicit is the key.

Well what also hurts

Is they let the heavyweights go all out on high flying moves, from over the top rope dives to Phoenix splashes.

But then the cruiserwait division isn't really allowed to go all out, so they look more like midget heavyweights. Like some of these guys can go at Dragon gate speed, but they don't, so the style is a little homogenized.

Yeah I'll take peak Aries over peak Roode every time. Roode cutting his hair like Triple H is pretty fitting cause that's the kind of guy he is. Not too impressive on his own, but a solid all around package in and out of the ring and can be carried to a good match or feud if the opponent is good enough or has enough heat behind him.

I like Roode but if he had Hunter's booking I'd probably hate him too. Aries is way better when he's on.
