Anyone here ever play this game? Was a mediocre RPG by today's standards but back when it came out, I remember it being pretty fun

I tried it for a little while, I remember thinking the combat was horrible and that Parasite Eve did it a lot better. I think I played it all of an hour before turning it off and never going back.

Edit: Just for reference Parasite Eve came out before (even though the combat was supposedly influenced by early Quest 64 videos). So I think even for the time it was kind of mediocre.

That game stunk even when it was released

The only reason anyone played the thing was that it was the only RPG on the n64 at the time

I think that's why I bought it. It had some interesting elements though. I liked learning new spells and some of the environments were kind of cool.

I remember renting it back in the day and I had no idea what the fuck was going on. In retrospect, I'm not really sure if the game was that bad or if it was just because I didn't really understand RPGs

I played through it at least 3 times. Wasn't the best, but it was enjoyable at the time (For me).

It wasn't fantastic, but it wasn't terrible either. I think the story was where it lacked the most because it was kind of vague but at the time there weren't really any other games with that style. I kind of want to replay it now.

I remember renting it for one weekend and I only played it for a couple of minutes at most.
Weekend was ruined.

Fun fact; Quest 64 was called Holy Magic in EU for some reason.

All I remember was that I didn't know how to attack shit and this big hexagon would appear around my character

Probably same way you can't use the 3D on the 3DS it's okay you'll be fine

Honestly I enjoyed it. I liked the battle system and really liked the element combining stuff. I also liked trying to find all of the element wisp things. It was indeed very rough around the edges (to put it mildly) and seemed like it was only 80% done or something, but some of the ideas were solid.

I played through it more than once and enjoyed it.

The part that ground my gears was when you would finish a fight and be facing the exact direction you were in as the fight ended, not where you were before combat started, so I could be going north, then end the fight facing south and accidentally walk in the wrong direction because lots of dungeons in that game were hallways.

Yeah it's more realistic I guess, but come on!

I have never had a 3DS, but I think I would be fine, the minimal amounts I have played one it was fine.

It was bad but it was all N64 had other than Paper Mario and Ogre Battle, so I still played it.
