What is the G1 Climax?

Every year New Japan Pro Wrestling holds the G1 Climax, a Round-Robin Tournament to crown the winner of the G1 Climax, who gets to pick a championship to fight for at any show in the future, which most of the time is at WrestleKingdom (New Japan's WrestleMania) in January and they go for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. IF the IWGP Champion wins the G1 he gets to pick who he faces

The G1 usually lasts about two week. All the wrestlers are separated into Two Blocks (A and B) and they face each person in their Block once and you get points based on how you do: Win = 2, Tie = 1, Loss = 0

Do they have a "final four" where the top two point getters in each block face off to see who goes to the finals? Or is it just the two point leaders automatically moving to the finals?

No final 4

They used to have 4 Blocks and they did that, but I don't know how many years ago that was. And to clear things up, the person who won their match breaks a tie (If Ibushi/ZSJ end up with 10 points the tie breaker goes to who won between Ibushi and ZSJ). IF that also was a tie (Omega/Okada end with 10 points, but also went to another draw), then I don't have a fucking clue, lol. Maybe we'd get our first Triple Threat WrestleKingdom main event?

Sooo far away. I bet we see Omega beat Okada here. I don't think Omega will win though.

I don't watch too much NJPW.

I'm assuming they either wouldn't let that happen, or have a plan for it we just don't know. triple threat is an option, but seems unfair to the third guy. could just as easily be a "playoff" rematch.

Yeah, everyone is hyped for that match, but we have some great matches to see. It really sucks that Ibushi and Omega are not in the same Block for a guaranteed match, but oh well, lol

But we're getting our Ibushi/ZSJ match we almost got in the CWC Finals, so I'm happy about that since it hasn't happened before, I don't think.

PS -

There is not better way to get up to date with New Japan than the G1. You're going to see a lot of amazing matches over the next few weeks and see what everyone in the main event can offer.

Omega beats Okada on the final night of block B to clinch his spot in the finals and tie their series at 1-1. The finals will be Omega vs. Kota "I used to be Tiger Mask W, you know" Ibushi. Omega wins, we get Okada vs. Omega 4 at WK12 for the belt and the bragging rights in their long rivalry.

That's my prediction and I'm sticking to it.

Yeah, that would be great

I don't know, I still think Cody is going to replace Omega at some point in the tournament. Not based on any facts, just more of a gut feeling. I watch a bit too much WWE and think story lines, and New Japan isn't known for doing story lines like that.

But if they're going to move into America soon, they might need to start doing those sort of things, just to grab the WWE crowd a bit more, if you know what I'm saying.

Omega gets "hurt" and Cody is his replacement at the G1 and goes on to beat Okada in the block, but lose to Ibushi in the finals. This lets Cody get a title shot because he beat the champion (a New Japan thing) a little down the road and gives Ibushi the title shot when he wan. . .at WrestleKingdom

Cody goes on to face and lose to Okada in his title shot against him, Okada/Omega III finally happens at the big show before WrestleKingdom, Omega wins and faces Ibushi at WrestleKingdom

That's my fantasy booking

Big brawl to start. Suzuki is trying to take out Omega!!

Trying to break Kenny's arm so he can't continue in the G1!!! This is why I love this shit!

Omega is back, shitty botch, though

He has a Villain Club shirt on though

And Suzuki just plants Chase with the Gotch Piledriver and finishes it off.

Kind of a let down, but that's alright, these are just filler matches to build to the 1 on 1 matches.
