Calwings 07/25/17 10:14:49 PM #10:	Black Lagoon Michiko & Hatchin Both had great and well-done dubs, and based on where the shows take place and how a lot of the characters look and act, it makes more sense that everyone would be speaking English rather than Japanese. Both shows have a lot of clearly non-asian characters (Revy was born in Manhattan for crying out loud) and M&H in particular takes place in a country populated with lots of black and latino people, possibly Brazil or a similar country. They did an amazing job at localizing all the jokes to be hilarious for an American audience without messing with the story itself at all, and all of the voice work (especially Kenji Kazama's reactions to the insanity going on around him) is great. Kazama's dub VA (can't recall his name right now) has shown to be perfect for "normally calm guy surrounded by insane girls and reacting to their insanity" characters. Most notably, the scream in one of the last episodes is fucking crazy - the VA really gave it her all. The Evangelion movies (1.11, 2.22 etc.) have pretty solid dubs too. The old series has more of a shaky dub, but the Rebuild movies are solid as fuck. Except maybe 3.33, Studio Khara interfered with that one and a lot of Asuka's lines feel pretty lame, like they're one-for-one with the Japanese dialogue instead of feeling more naturally English. --- And outside it's ninety-two degrees, and KROQ is playing Siouxsie and the Banshees.
