Well?

I don't feel like I'm getting enough practice driving for an hour just once, maybe twice a week max. I don't have time to practice on weekdays because someone else is always in the car with me when my mom drives me home from work. I'm beginning to lose faith that I'll ever be able to get enough practice to take my driver's test and pass it. Also, I hate parallel parking. Anyway, two days a week every week is enough to master driving a car, right? I just suck at it, right?

I must have these answers.

I did it every day for two weeks before my test and it was fine. It's not an instant skill

Well the more hours you put in the quicker you'll learn. However a few hours a week isn't bad either. It'll just take you longer to learn.

Shit idk, different for everyone, I wasn't even comfortable driving after I got my license, it still took awhile to where it felt like nothing. But the more you do it, the easier it becomes so keep at it.

To master driving a car? Every single day. To just pass your test to get your licence? You can probably get away with way less unless you have a disability of some sort. But then again, it's different for everyone and I still don't have my license, so what do I know?

enough to feel comfortable may be like 2-3 hours a week for 3 months. took me a while until I wasn't super nervous before/during every time I drove.

I got my license with 7 hours of driving experience. My first thought after passing the license test was something like "This is what's wrong with America, letting people like me legally drive".

Master driving? I mean, there's people who have driven for like a decade and still don't know how to use a four-way stop.

Just drive as much as you can, you'll get it.

Gonna go out on a limb and say "Where", and "Why". Driving in warm areas that rarely snow would be easier than someone who needs to drive on shitty turf in the winter. Up north, some companies either require, or incentivize their drivers to be gearheads, simply to be able to handle and fix their vehicle better due to their conditions.

Master? Decades of driving a variety of vehicles, motorcycles, sports cars, full-sized cars, vans, light and heavy trucks, in all kinds of weather and terrain. Front drive, rear drive, mid-engine. Racing is helpful, too, in learning the limits of adhesion, over-and-understeer, etc.

not just that, but if you've driven in different environments, different directions all over town... you have to learn not to panic when you get lost and the only way to do that is to get lost several times

IIRC I actually drove 20 or less before I got my license, but you're supposed to log like 50. My parents normally aren't dishonest about that kind of thing, but I think they just wanted me to be able to drive myself to school for their convenience, since it was like three blocks away on residential roads. You're supposed to have highway, night and snow/mountain driving experience but I think those ones we made up entirely

Basically this. When you've got theory down to a T outside the car then it's a matter of translating rather than learning which helps a lot when you're scared of fucking things up with a tonne of aluminum.

In the UK you're not allowed to drive on the highway until after you get your full licence.

getting lost is one of the funnest most stressful things i've ever done before

it's fun in retrospect, but stressful during

hell, sometimes i'll just take a turn off onto a road i've never been on and just make my way in the general direction of the place i'm going to

Just pay for driving lessons. They are set up like the driver's test, a couple of those and you will be fine.

It's not usual to get a price break on car insurance if you've taken decent driving lessons, so it's really something to look into.

I paid for about 7 or 8 45 minute long lessons before my first driving test (that I failed because parallel parking). I practiced parking in the instructor's car but took the exam in my mom's car, which handled differently. After that, I practiced driving and parking in my mom's car for a couple of hours total and passed the next exam a month later.

I think it's important to tell people that if you know what car you're going to use for the driving test, use that car for practice. At least with things a lot of people find tricky like parallel parking.
