No, simply based on the fact that it's a vidya adaption. I read that article and I agree that the issue is often trying to recreate key moments rather than capture the feel of the source material but unless they can pull this off it's kind of the final nail in the coffin for video games as movie fodder-if someone that claims to get the material and feels that they can avoid the same mistakes still screws it up then it's game over, man, game over.

No. I appreciate everything the director has said about staying true to the source material but I really don't see how that can be done in a 2-3 hour film with the kind of budget constraints they are undoubtedly going to give him. I think he will end up disappointing both fans of the series and newcomers as it will likely be too departed from the story from the games but also overly convoluted in comparison to most films in the genre.

This is yet another case where I think a TV series would make a lot more sense than a film. I'm a huge fan of Metal Gear but at this point my expectations are much higher for the netflix Witcher series.

Exactly. There are more than a few supercuts of the entire metal gear series, and ones for each individual game, that run for more than 12 hours and even those feel chopped to hell. There's so much missing and so much information that doesn't translate well without context.

Not to mention Metal Gear's primary means of giving information has always been through the Codec, and those conversations are such a massive, massive part of the series both in setting up story as well as the overall tone of the games. Bit hard to make a guy listening to people jabber in his ear interesting to watch.
