The reason the pound is surging in value is because as soon as the brexit vote was announced it plummeted to catastrophically low levels.

Let's not pretend this argument started with a reasonable discourse on the economic advantages of leaving the EU. One guy literally said "This is why brexit happened" in response to this story, so if your motivation to leave the EU is because you read a story of a white girl getting raped by a black guy, yeah...that's pretty racist I'd say.

Maybe get a clue and learn a little about English history (particularly London) before you make comments like this. Jamaican immigrants almost singlehandedly built the London Underground 180 years ago. They then stuck around in London and formed part of a huge local population.

We're not talking 1st or 2nd or even 3rd generation immigrants. These people are as English as "alright guv'na, bobs your uncle". Most of the black people you'll ever meet in the UK live in london and have Jamaican heritage.

If you're a 6th generation english-born person you are fucking English. Your parents, your parents parents and your parents parents parents all were born in and lived in england their entire lives. If you go back far enough yourself I'm sure you'll find that your bloodline is not as pure as you think either.

Lol why are people so defensive about this? They aren't English; that's all. Seriously; they have no connection to the history of the region AT ALL, until what? a hundred years at most for the majority of them? Most yards are 60s 70s. I mean sheesh it's not that serious and being English isn't that great. But functionally, if you're the son of an English expatriate or something, you don't suddenly lose your tie to that ancestry, meanwhile someone who happens to be born in England gets to be called English even if his ancestry is wherever else. That's why plenty of Englishmen born abroad are STILL ENGLISH, even if they're born in Kenya, Saudi Arabia, India, etc. Why is this so difficult?

People are defensive about it because calling someone "not english" despite them being a 6th generation immigrant with England all way up in their veins is one of the dumbest things I've heard this week.

Like dude, we're talking about people born in England, to parents who were also born in England. People who have completely integrated into the cultural fabric. People who've never stepped out of Brixton and who's only ties to Jamaica is that their great nan could make a mean jerk chicken. And that their skin is black.

As far as I'm aware there is not a significantly huge population of English immigrants who settled and integrated into Japan a century and a half ago and helped make Japan the country it is today. Also I'm pretty sure Japan didn't have a colony in England.
