Visited some family that live in a ghetto and especially after dark people just run and bike across the street with no regard to traffic, even if a crosswalk at an intersection was like 10 ft away

What is up with that

I guess This American Life did an episode about it and a lot of people in poorer neighborhoods feel safer walking across the street because people will hang around intersections looking to mug people

Probably cause they just don't care about silly rules like that. I still don't think twice about not using a crosswalk even if it's a few feet away. Never gotten a ticket for it, or been hit by a car for doing it (have been hit by a few cars as a kid, but not crossing the street.)

Is it the not using crosswalks or the "no regard for traffic" that bothers you more? If it's the former, I gotta say I don't exclusively use then either, especially on my bike.

But people who don't give a shit about traffic are a big pet peeve of mine.
