Seems kinda obvious. Parents used government to encourage schools to segregate with county lines and such, why wouldn't they do the same through market forces? Turns out the government is actually pretty good at achieving the customer's preference in this case.

Farrrrrrrr less obviously, which is why I proposed the idea. It's god damn 6 year olds.

Worst they can do is do what their parents tell them, which is at worst only as bad as our current system. All it takes is 1 friend moving somewhere else or some new trend that another school comes up with to attract kids for the domino to fall and parents to lose power there.

I'll remind you that there is a point where kids do pick their education in the US (not to mention how early they do so in other countries) and no one flips out about it. Obviously it's not perfect but it's wayyyy better and more free and quality and diverse.

So much so that the US had to implement some seriously destructive practices just to maintain the elite's control over education's status quo and the "peer group" the article mentions. And it STILL doesn't defeat "I went to a party there once in high school and it was tight".

i think you're vastly underestimating how indoctrinated 6 year olds already are. hell, there was a recent documentary that was partially about a study that proved that small children are already extremely racist. unfortunately it's in dutch so you can't watch it but yeah.

What's interesting is he specifically makes no moral judgment of the actions, just that they should be punished for breaking the NAP. That means he doesn't think punishment is a reason to avoid doing something, that it is wrong to do. There are things that he might think are moral and necessary to do, despite knowing it will cause a punishment.

That should be a more important aspect of libertarianism. Too many just take the NAP as a replacement source of authoritarianism for their moral systems, when really it's all about there being no authoritarian source of morality. All individual actions should still be morally scrutinized without any easy shortcuts.
