Isn't the amount supposed to be shrinking under Trump, not just growing slower?

Although this one is kinda weak the more you think about it because tons of people have property on the border already and there's a 0% chance the wall will actually be built to an extent eminent domain will even come into play

But it does evoke a hilarious image of a giant wall with a small 2 foot gap in it with a sign about cards against humanity

This Liberty Meme reminds me of my general point that we have way too many holidays dedicated to the military and none dedicated to regular necessary jobs. I still want to celebrate garbage man day!

Except what would actually happen is that the state would buy/seize all the land bordering their small gap, and suddenly their land becomes de facto part of Mexico, and loses 90% of its value.

I swear I just linked a Murphy article about this a couple months ago! The question of "borders" becomes irrelevant if private property is actually respected and freedom of association is allowed.

There would still be some funny ways to get around that. Buying a tiny strip of twisty road up as far as possible so the surface area of the border would be super big and stupid, or putting something really important on the small gap so the government would have to leave it open to have access to it (not sure what).

But yeah this is all irrelevant since the government will just shoot you if you try any actually effective tricks.

Strips of land like that don't really exist. You'd have to try and assemble a bunch of small plots together, but there aren't that many small plots outside of large cities in the first place.

Remember that every established "plot" of land was established with the permission of the state. They were careful to avoid crap like that.

foolmo actually linked to a p decent conversation on microtransactions in games

I think that guy basically has it right - yes the whales subsidize your game but it does NOT follow that you tailor the experience for them - because they want to play games that are popular and well reviewed and games whose experience for 95% of the player base is shitty will NOT be popular or well reviewed

The point is you need to tailor for both (and ideally everywhere in between). You can make a game that is very popular but provides no reason for whales to pay in, or maybe only pay in a little bit. A lot of designers went that route after the backlash against "whale hunting", but they are missing the point, just like the whale hunters miss the point. Balance in MTX design is when everyone pays what they truly want to pay, not more, not less.

It's a pretty simple solution though. Monetize the non-MTX players with ads (mobile) or initial box sale (console), and monetize the whales with valuable high-price MTX. Of course implementing these is going to be very difficult and fundamentally different in every game, but it's not hard to get the theory right.

For example in this game, they had very few whales. But it's okay because they monetized the free players well. Sure they could've provided a higher ceiling for whales or whatever and got a few % more, but it's not that big of a deal because they got the basic theory correct.

As a non-Tesla owner, the Tesla Semi is by far the most exciting and impressive reveal so far. Trucking has the most obvious and efficient benefits from electric, since it's consistent routes with very high mileage. Running the entire trucking industry on solar power, for 80-50% of the price of diesel, is pretty amazing and super attainable. Cheaper than TRAINS also is pretty insane.

That being said, the new Roadster is insanely badass and I want it.

wtf kind of idiotic straw man argument is this?

"if you attack person A for not spending money on good causes, you should also attack person B for not spending money on good causes!"

(that being said, i do agree that the attack is stupid because "omg they spent their money on something stupid instead of a good cause" is something you can say about literally every rich person ever. i'm sure the guy tweeting has some rich idols who he's not attacking for exhibiting the exact same behavior.)

The second part is more important than the first.

One person giving someone else a lot of money for a durable good does not destroy or remove resources in any meaningful way, so that kind of resentment is entirely pointless, directed at either person.

Think it's way less than that. Like 40%.

If we needed coal that badly we wouldn't have so many mines shutting down.

I guess I can't blame you TOO much in this specific case because I didn't post the details that say Tesla is putting up 100% solar powered mega chargers for trucks

But also it's a fine analogy because it's a completely baseless sentiment that is repeated CONSTANTLY with a smug sense of righteousness even though it has been explained to you dozens of times already but it just doesn't stick because you're so desperately clinging to your shitty political position that you can't spend the 1 second of brainpower it takes to recognize it's a dumb question
