Would you stop going to an establishment if the owner said what he said?

A Popular Wisconson restaurant is under fire after one of the co-owners responded to the NFL Kneeling by stating the players who do should be EXECUTED!!

He wrote #TakeAKnee protest by telling players to die

John Valko posted that on his eatery's Facebook page describing what he thought needed to happen to people who protest against the national anthem and it was different than the "firing" that Trump suggested.

He wrote "Kill the idiot players. Execute them. They are nothing but garbage. The league is screwed up if they think it is their right. It is their duty to respect our country and our flag. They should go kneel in front of a freight train. Shame on these stupid misfits of society. They need to die"

He deleted that post but the damage was already done with the other co-owners having to issue a statement stating his remarks were not reflective of their establishment.

They said "We Co-owners of Reefpoint Brew House do NOT support John Valko's statements and comments made by him on his personal page or pages of others. He is not the voice of Reefpoint Brew House or us. We are working hard internally to move forward to protect our selves, our business and most important the 80+ staff members and their families livelihood"

Valko issued an apology and said he would "step aside" from the restaurant and sid "Today, i offer my sincerest apology to every person near and far, my wife, my family, my friends and all of the employees of the restaurant that have been hurt by words i used. Those words should be condemned. I apologize to every person of every race, religion, creed etc..that i have insulted, upset, ticked off or hurt because of the words i choose to use in this facebook post".

He said his words had nothing to do with race but said that it hurts his "soul" when people are not "patriotic". He will now seek counselling for his brash behaviour

Would you have boycotted an establishment if the owner said what he said? let's see what people will vote

That's a little extreme. We can back the crazy train up a bit.

Depends on the menu and prices, really. Granted, I know some hothead restauranteers and, if any of them said it, I'd probably just laugh it off and not give it much thought.

I would keep going to a restaurant if their food, service, and prices were to my liking.

I don't give a crap what the owner's personal opinions are unless it's directly effecting my experience with their food.

How many people would stop going to a restaurant that they already go to regularly that is convenient and to their liking just because the owner expressed an opinion they disagree with. I don't see Activation going bankrupt because its president said video games are bad and people who play them are bad.

How can you really offer an apology if you make a death threat like that? At that point no one who is sane is going to believe you're someone committed to living in a society of human beings. You might as well just keep going with the psychotic ramblings until you're either locked up or elected President.

Also I'd stop going to his restaurant because his views on patriotism probably mirror his views on customer service. You have to like the steak, or else!

I've worked in the restaurant industry for 9 years now, and I can tell you how it would work: Owners who are assholes treat their employees like garbage but treat customers like angels because they want money. Bad customer service would be a result of employees being treated poorly by both customers and owners, which makes for a miserable work environment.
Employees probably have it the worst in this case. I wouldn't want to work at this guy's restaurant, lol.

Well, considering that he sees them as what's wrong with the country and he's technically not hurting anybody so it's peaceful....

tbh, people are way too much into virtue-signaling with their purchases. I strongly disagree with Stephen King over gun control yet I still read his books... some of which depict and arguably even glorify mass shootings >_>

Not really a death threat and people can repent for things they say, as they can for the deeds they do. Only extremists hold certain things against a person forever, which is the stuff you pretend to protest.

In general, hurting the employees is true of any boycott. More pragmatically, if you remember a scene from Clerks, a character insisted that everybody working on the Death Star -- the non-military personnel -- had made a conscious choice to affiliate themselves thus which could be seen as tacit support. (Economic concerns aside, of course; although a truly outraged worker will endeavor to find new work and find sympathetic ears for the cause of departure.)
