Fun fact. When I was a little kid, I lived in River Falls WI, which is where the Chiefs had their training camp at the time. We would go watch every summer. Somewhere at my parents house, I have a bunch of autographed cards of early 90s chiefs players. I went through them a couple years ago. Their kicker has the most incredible 80s/90s mullet you've ever seen

I beat another SNES game. Super Castlevania IV. It's pretty good. I abused save states to beat it as it is too challenging for me.

That's pretty high up on my list, but I kind of want to play the NES games first. Not so much because I care about story connections or whatever (if there even are any), but because I imagine if I start with IV that it'll make it really hard to go back to the NES ones. Have you played any of the NES Castlevanias?

I've just dabbled in them on emulators and stuff. This one is definitely better than those ones by a lot but it's not in the Metroid style yet so the series hadn't yet found its niche

Are the Metroidvanias as annoying as the "classic" style Castlevanias? I always thought it sounded like a bad idea to add confusing maps to a game that's already hard and frustrating. Obviously they are very popular so they must have reduced the difficultly a bit, but whenever I see videos it looks like they still have the same stiff movement and jumping

I'm not that versed in the seriesbut I don't find them that difficult.

ARod recently said steroids cost him 40 million and his reputation, and that he regrets doing it. I think steroids helped his career more than hurt it and he should stop trying to fall on his sword and act like he did unspeakable acts which he can never atone for. I'm sure he doesn't regret those inflated contracts he got one bit.

Speaking of the SNES Classic, my friend got one and has no modding experience but said it was really easy to add the rest of the SNES library to the console if you feel inclined to do so.

Well, it's possible, but then I'd probably say they might have helped his career early on and hurt it later on. But that's still a dubious claim since it seems like there's little evidence PEDs inflate numbers, at least not in the direct sense people think. If you look at guys like Bonds and Clemens it seems more likely that they are more effective at defying age/injuries. So it's an indirect inflation of numbers, but A-Rod was still relatively young at the time he signed his final deal, and he probably would have been putting up big numbers regardless. Then his later usage obviously didn't really help him do well or stay on the field and it only got worse when he was kept out of the game an entire year

You're probably right, and he could be right about how steroids cost him in some aspects of his career, but I guess what it boils down to is that I don't like him and this sudden remorsefulness seems like a PR stunt to me so he can be more accepted as an announcer or commentator or whatever he wants to do in baseball.

I remember how pissed off some people were about that bat flip. In football or hockey if a player did something like that after scoring nobody would have given it a second thought. Is that just a baseball thing?

Nah, people get pissed at hockey players for certain celebrations. But only if the hockey player is European (see: Ovechkin and Tomas Hertl*) or black (PK Subban).

(*This did give us one of the best soundbites ever from Joe Thornton: "If I scored four goals, I'd whip my dick out.")

Anyways, that bat flip needs to be on a statue somewhere.

It was bad baserunning. He should have been out but Sanchez fucked up. If they'd gotten him the Astros would have been screwed for that inning and if they'd had men on 2nd and 3rd with one out and Springer up they still had a good chance to score. But it worked out so it's fine
