Kylo finds he hates himself and the answers he's found through Snoke, and turns away from the dark side to try and seek redemption. Meanwhile, Rey seeks training and knowledge, but Luke refuses her. She knows too much to stop, and is seduced by Snoke's promises, leading her to the dark side.

it certainly seems to be the way things are going in the trailer

That would be kinda cool, if they did it right.

I definitely think Kylo coming to realize he's not cut out to be a villain will be a major subplot in 8 if not both 8 and 9.

Is it just me or does Snoke look a tad like Luke? Like a clone of Luke gone wrong or something. Maybe just my imagination.

This is what I was hoping for from the beginning.

That Rey WAS the reason the Jedi Temple/Academy was destroyed and not Kylo.

Kylo being vulnerable was promised revenge and redemption and power, misled by Snoke. Snoke really wanted Rey this entire time.

Rey is showing too much power and potential for Luke and slows her teaching down only for her to become frustrated and leave Luke.

Eventually she would be redeemed. Kylo and Rey create a new order of force users who are neither Jedi or Sith.

I'm pretty certain that's the expectation they're setting up with the trailers that's going to turn out to be a red herring. Like how the promo materials for TFA kept showing Finn with the lightsaber.

CRAZY THEORY INCOMING

Alright, to start with, the rumor that Snoke is actually Darth Plagious. Let's for one minute just assume that is true. After creating Anakin, his plans for him were interrupted by Palpatine, and went into hiding, biding his time. When the Empire fell, and Anakin died, what if he did it again, creating Rey?

That would explain what Luke meant by "I've seen this power only once before", assuming he meant Vader. And then maybe Rey and Kylo both turn grey jedi or something.

given TFA i think it's a safe bet that we are going to see only safe choices made. do not expect mindblowing twists or anything cerebral.

which is fine: the original star wars trilogy were also not complex narrative stories. they had one twist. and the prequels were stupid. this isn't a film franchise that challenges the brain.
