Like, as long as your work place isn't shit you shouldn't have to worry right \_()_/

ok but seriously though, I think staying at a place that isn't helping you grow for 1.5 Years is more than enough. Why is leaving a "professional job" such a bad thing <.< I even did a favor and gave notice so my old job can find someone else

What red flags are you referring to?

Been a murder, over in Riften. Some old lady who runs an orphanage. Those poor children must be heartbroken.

Because you are generic and replacable to employers so your main distinguishing feature is being willing to leave if abused.

apparently it shows that I'm more prone to leaving a job if I don't like it which sorta makes sense. I just think it's weird how people expect you to stay until you find something then leave. in other words, you're better off actively job searching while already working.

Sad truth really

I quit my last job because they were giving me health problems and it was a s*** company to work for, without anything lined up. I got unemployment, and when my current job called to do a quick phone interview he asked m about there and I told him I no longer work there. He took that to mean they laid me off, because there were a lot of rumors about that company at the time.

yea for my field (accounting) layoffs are happening because tax season just ended so companies are getting rid of people. Since I quit I guess I'm worse than the lay-offs.

Very true and very sad. Here, being in between jobs is a huge red flag. Every prospective employer expects their applicants to be employed at the time of their interview or appointment.

Being unemployed even for 2 months sends a negative message. It sucks and definitely unfair; you can't take a break in between. You can't just say that you'll resign and relax for a bit before working again. Here, that's undesirable.

You're supposed to say you took off work to travel and enjoy life and gain more life experience and are ready to rejoin the work force.

Yep. what annoys me the most is people (employers) act like you lose all work ethic in those 2 months <.<

I guess I'm lucky because in accounting as long as you're getting your license/have one (CPA license btw) you aren't as undesirable. But still not an ideal candidate that's for sure

Nah this won't work with baby boomer generation and unfortunately they rule the top of the chain for most corporate jobs

It always looks better when you get laid off or are still employed when you are interviewing. I never bought into that personally, I just care about your abilities and personality, but a lot of people believe that.

I've had like a billion different jobs in my life but because I've always had another job lined up before I left, I seem to have never had a problem with it.

Because maintaining continuous employment is common sense, particularly because 99% of the population needs regular income to survive. And, if you leave one company for the next, the reason is self-explanatory. However, if you quit a job or get fired, there's usually a story.

Plus there's the underlying suspicion among employers that, if you can't hack it at one company, you probably won't last at theirs. Very few employers want to take on employees who might not last long.
