Yeah I'm here, couldn't get into the thing because they only gave tickets to a couple people. Got interviewed like 5 times lol. No one was fighting and I had lovely conversations with alt-righters and protesters. People meet your energy in kind. It's really easy to avoid violence.

There was a really clever protest where if you got a ticket and took it to a bar instead of watching the speech, they would give you a free beer.

And Richard Spencer kept daring Antifa to punch him. And, uh, the leader of Identity Evropa said that the reason that they were here was because Richard Spencer got punched (96:40).

Basically nothing violent happened. One guy in a swastika shirt got punched and spit on. One white nationalist rolled down a window, fired a gunshot that hit nobody, and drove off. And that's it.

Andrew Anglin said that the alt-righters should show up around black and Jewish sites on campus and be spooky for a couple minutes, calling them "flash demos" The goal was to make campus feel like there are Nazis everywhere. I couldn't find any and I don't think there was much of anything going on after the speech. I think it's supposed to cover for the fact that like 20 supporters showed up.

It looks like this event was a huge embarrassing failure for the alt-right. Bashing the people in the alt-right gives the alt-right movement its power, as Eli Mosley said. I think their numbers are declining because they're getting bored at polite nonviolent protests.

Yeah one of the alt-right guys asked me if I was gay. He said he didn't have a problem with gay people but thought they didn't really need to broadcast it. That's the closest thing to homophobia I've experienced in, like, 8 years? I'm not super queeny but if you talk to me for a while you'll probably pick up on it, and I think I was a little more animated than normal because I was sleepy. And if anyone is gonna attack me unprovoked it's almost certainly gonna be Antifa.

I never once said slavery wasn't part of it. (It obviously was).

The war itself however wasn't about primarily slavery. The war was 100% on their feeling of loss of individual states rights to the collective.

According to one of the alt-righters I spoke to, it's because 90% of the 1% is Jewish. I didn't ask why they don't unite over that Muslims but it's probably because the Jews have institutional power and the Muslims do not.
