Full-sized consoles? No way in hell.
The Switch? Not the system itself, but I could imagine transparent Joy-Con controllers happening.

It's probably just not done because it's seen as tacky these days. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be possible.

They might not be very interesting to look at, but there's no technical reason that it can't be done. Plenty of PC cases still come with windows (lowercase), by the way.

That's an understatement. It's actually MORE of a pain in the ass to find a mid-tower size case (read: Standard) without a damn window.
