I say that this never happens in sports but it's actually pretty similar to when the Saints won the super bowl

-Hurricane hit the city then they won it all
-both teams were dominant all season but were never really considered the best team then beat one of the teams that was supposedly better than them in the final
-first championship in team history for both

Also I'm very happy that Beltran finally got a ring even if he didn't get to dominate this postseason like he used to.

The postgame interviews after a championship are always so terrible. "What does it mean to you?". Um, it just means they won a championship. I guess postgame interviews after any game are pretty bad but it's the worst when there are no games left so there's really nothing to talk about

Not gonna pretend like I was a huge Tom Petty fan, but seeing Carlos Beltran crying and hugging teammates as they played "The Waiting" got to me a little.

I don't know when that comes out, but I'm still playing Mario so we can talk about that for a while.

Have you guys used the snapshot mode? It's so cool with all the different filters. But just like real life photography, I have a terrible nose for what would make a good picture

There's your first problem. You use your eyes for photography, not your nose.

Yes I've played with it a bit but I haven't shared anything anywhere because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. I finished the main story last night and I can safely say it's my favorite Mario. It's also maybe the most creative game I've ever played. I can't play it for five minutes without being surprised and/or delighted by something.

I think I'll always be at least 2 months behind whatever switch game is currently in.

Sports talk: that NFL trade deadline was crazy. Teams actually did trades! Usually there's only 1 trade, and it's something like a backup tight end for a 7th round pick

I don't know how close I am to the end (and don't tell me), but I'm at the snow world, and I went to the sea world first when that choice came if that gives you an idea. You beat it pretty fast. I probably could have done it too but I'm not in as big a hurry as with BotW.

So far I'd say it's obviously better than Sunshine, 3D Land and 3D World, and probably better than 64, but I don't know about the Galaxy games. Those ones were super innovative and creative. And they had Luigi and Yoshi! I'm still holding out hope I'll see a surprise appearance in Odyssey, but that hope is running thin and at this point I assume at most it would be a non-playable cameo. I admit that playing as them is pretty overrated anyway, but it seems weird by now that Nintendo would make a huge Mario game and leave them out

Without giving away who or what becomes playable I'll just say that you have to think some of this stuff will be coming as dlc. I don't expect this to happen for example but I wouldn't be shocked to see Wario or the frog dude from SMB2 pop up as the bad guy in dlc.

Is this even going to have DLC? To my knowledge, nothing was announced yet. I guess it's still possible, but I remember with BotW the DLC was confirmed before the game even came out

I'm assuming all nintendo games get dlc now. Maybe we'll get an Odyssey 2 like Galaxy 2 instead

It would be cool to get a second flagship Mario and Zelda on Switch. We got both in the first year so it's possible, but I know to temper my expectations after the Wii U barely got either and the GameCube barely got a second Zelda. However, if it does happen and there is eventually VC up to GameCube, the Switch could potentially be the GOAT Nintendo console

I think we'll get at least one more of each and 2d games as well

I wish they'd go back to sprites for 2D games. It's not as big a deal with Zelda since those tend to change up the style, but please no more NSMB

I must be the only person left in this topic who still likes watching football. Not that you guys have ever given much of a crap about it, or taking about it, which is perfectly fine.

Edit: that reminds me... The only other person who would talk about Vikings was Erik p, and his Vikings posts were as bad as his personality. I'd rather talk about pretty much anything with you guys than Vikings with he who must not be named

I feel bad about Watson. This year I had him and Rodgers as will as Zach Miller on my fantasy team. While I feel bad for all of them, Watson has a lot of years in the league, so I hope he recovers well.

You know how sometimes when you look up a hottie on Facebook their whole profile is public so you have to carefully read a ton of stuff they posted without smashing the like button on accident? Well I didn't like any of her posts but she posted about the women's March because while she considers herself a left leaning feminist she hates that feminism has become about free birth control and tampons and then went into a multi paragraph rant about how tampons are a luxury item. No, I watch it, too, though I am not a regular in this topic. Currently very happy that my Jets beat the Bills, though I am also sad that DeShaun Watson randomly got a season-ending injury. That dude was amazing to watch. ... The Texans are going to fall apart without him (and without J.J. Watt!).

Does anybody else feel lately like it would just be better if NFL games were only on Sundays? Of course, hating and wanting to get rid of TNF is nothing new, and everybody knows that MNF hasn't been the same since ESPN, but this season is the first time I really thought "Wait, why don't they just get rid of MNF?"

They pretty much only have MNF because of tradition at this point. It was supposed to be the marquee game of the week, but now it's just another game, so what's the point? SNF always gets what's supposed to be the biggest game, but even CBS and Fox usually have at least one better game each week. Now with ESPN dropping subscribers in huge numbers, maybe it's time to end it.

chewy how demoralizing was it to get to 99 jumps in the jump rope minigame and then lose? I got to like 85 and never want to try again.

By the way I remember reading that like the only reason anyone gets ESPN is their live sports so shitty as it may be they will always have a strong reason to retain MNF

Lol did you look at me on the leaderboard? I looked at those but I didn't notice an option to see your friends' score.

There's a similar one later that is even worse, but I assume you haven't gotten to it yet so I won't spoil it. But it takes forever, and my high score is only around 50 IIRC. The jump rope is pretty quick but it was rather demoralizing getting 99. I psyched myself out too much and screwed up at the worst time. Mario jumps too high to match the timing after a while

Yeah you can compare scores on a lot of stuff. I got to 151 on the other one. My only tip is to make heavy use of Cappy for it.

I've used Cappy but I always screw up at some point and throw it slightly off line. Then I don't want to try again because it takes like five minutes just to get to 20. Maybe I'll go back to that one but I definitely want to defeat the jump rope

How the hell do people get over 10000 on the jump rope? Insane.

Yeah that one takes way too long to get going. I think I beat it on like my 4th try though.

Well doesn't the jump rope have a cap on the speed before you even get to 100? Otherwise I assume it would eventually be impossible unless it allowed multiple passes in one jump. But if it caps out, then you just gotta have insane focus I guess

Yeah I think it reaches max speed at like 50. I just get tripped up by the height of Mario's jump.
