Hey fire is real good at repelling the Upside Down related stuff and we already learned from season 1 bullets didnt so so much to the Demigorgons

*outfits all the MPs with guns and no flamethrowers save the one guy flaming the portal every day, no flamethrowers on deck incase there is a breach like in S2E8*

Kali has the power to cause visual hallucinations. She used it to taunt 11 by having Brenner actually speak to her.

I'm guessing she can fully manipulate all their senses, but since they explained it as visual only, that part didn't make sense.

They never specifically said it's only visual, but that's the only part of it any of them mentioned, even Kali herself when explaining it. Only the Brenner thing showed anything more than a vision.

It's either a mistake, or a hint that she's stronger than she let on.

I mean, I'm pretty sure the tunnel collapsing made noise and I know for sure that the big metal wall had a creaking sound. She probably just focused on the visual since that's the most important sense.

There was a bunch of logic failures this season, but meh. They could have asked Eleven for the help against the Shadow Monster from the beginning, but Hopper was just being a dumbass.

I'm no scientist, but causing visual hallucinations in a person is a matter of fucking with brain chemistry/neurons to make someone believe they see something that isn't there. So her power really is manipulating brain chemistry/neurons, which would make multisensory hallucinations a matter of just manipulating more neurons simultaneously. Plus, in her introductory scene, the tunnel collapse hallucination made appropriate sounds to the guy who experienced it.

Yeah, they weren't really smart this season. Same shit, like with Owens trying to ignore the pumpkin evidence until Hopper put his foot down. You can argue they were sparing Will, but I mean...what's the alternative?

I think she messes with your brain. She doesn't put out images like some kind of illusionist. It's more like a telepath that can fool your brain into perceiving something that isn't there

The sound of a bridge collapsing is pushing it but still believable. But making a hallucination of Brenner which is able to deliver a very wordy speech about emotions is dumb. She went from butterflies and spiders to fully fleshed out humans that lecture people.
