Yeah, like the "freedom" to pay a ton of money on gas, insurance, repairs, and the car itself, the "freedom" to have another thing to stress over, the "freedom" of driving around on the same roads as a bunch of fools, the "freedom" of losing out on the exercise and personal time of walking and riding a bike, the "freedom" of having people bum rides off me, the "freedom" of contributing to the destruction of the environment, etc. etc. Yeah, I think I'll head over to the BMV first thing in the morning. #Sarcasm

Also, why do quotation marks still take up so many characters? They could add emoji functionality and other garbage like that, but not fix the quote thing?

Why should I have to pick up the girl? Besides, walking gives people more time to talk, since one of them isn't controlling a 2 ton mass of metal that can move at speeds humans were never meant to travel at.

having a car is a big responsibility but its also really awesome. being able to go anywhere i want at any time without waiting on idiots to take me somewhere or walking hours(where i live) to get to a place.

when i was 18 and got my license and a few months after when my parents let me actually drive by myself its like holy shit this is life changing.

From which post did you appropriate that information, or was it a simple (heh) inference? I assure you I know full well, but simply know better than the masses what is to be done and what is not. Ask the common man what " freedom" is in the first place and watch as he flounders and reveals his ingrained ignorance. Actually, how's about you answer that question yourself? A think a flying sword would be cooler

The wings could fold down during combat to augment the blade and the thrusters could then be used for quick and powerful stabs or if reverse wielding, burning people.

If holding the sword backwards means they can burn people, holding the sword forwards means they'd burn the user.

There are a whole lot of situations where having a car isn't as necessary as people like to think it is, but it does come in very handy whenever you've got passengers or cargo, are traveling in particularly hilly terrain or bad weather, or for traveling more than ~10 km (presuming a bike, anything past 5 km is pushing it for walking). The whole "freedom" thing gets exaggerated, and is largely a product of car commercial propaganda that most of the population has swallowed without questioning it, but it definitely does come in handy.

Eh, that's debatable. In a city, biking can often end up being just as fast as driving, if not faster, thanks to the ability to bypass traffic and the fact that light timing makes much, much more of a difference in transit time than top speed does. With no traffic and no need to stop every hundred feet? A car will definitely win. Same with longer distances. But it's definitely possible for somebody in a city to do their commuting by bike without really losing any time compared to driving.

Firewood18 posted...

Also debatable. It's not at all a necessity in many cities, especially ones with decent public transit options or active transportation infrastructure. The personal automobile is one of the biggest challenges in urban planning, simply because it's so hideously space-inefficient (a small car has a footprint of 10-12 square meters, and spends 90+% of any given day doing absolutely nothing). Many cities are still designed around driving, because people cling to it, but the idea that that should be the norm is a major stumbling block for efficient city design.
