Did anyone hear about the West Virginia dad who got 5 years probation, and 50 years supervision for raping his 11 year old daughter?

This story is disgusting. What kind of monster makes an 11 year old get an abortion instead of marrying her?

From an Alabama State Representative defending Moore:

"What you have is the mainstream leftwing socialist Democrat news media trying to distort the evidence to cause people to reach the conclusion that Roy Moore engaged in unlawful conduct with a minor and my analysis of the evidence is that is not the case,"

I love that huge string of adjectives about the media

From Keillors article yesterday:

And then there is Sen. Al Franken. He did USO tours overseas when he was in the comedy biz. He did it from deep in his heart, out of patriotism, and the show he did was broad comedy of a sort that goes back to the Middle Ages. Shakespeare used those jokes now and then, and so did Bob Hope and Joey Heatherton when they entertained the troops. If you thought that Al stood outdoors at bases in Iraq and Afghanistan and told stories about small-town life in the Midwest, you were wrong. On the flight home, in a spirit of low comedy, Al ogled Miss Tweeden and pretended to grab her and a picture was taken. Eleven years later, a talk show host in LA, she goes public, and there is talk of resignation. This is pure absurdity, and the atrocity it leads to is a code of public deadliness. No kidding.

I seem to also recall thinking these users were selfish, uncivilized fucks.

Well now they'll be selfish, uncivilized fucks with less money if this tax plan passes.

The alternative now is what you have now, where the lower class can't really afford it even with the "cheaper rates" and either pay it or get fined because they can't.

I mean just redesigning the health plan and distancing it from health insurance is the actual fix but yeah the individual mandate was the king of gouging the bottom of the totem pole which most people should be against.

The bottom the totem pole was supposed to be covered by medicaid expansion. Which, iirc, it is in states that went through with it. It's not the federal government's fault that some states are explicitly trying to kneecap the law at the expense of the poor.

I mean, being covered by medicaid is nice for the very bottom but yeah I definitely don't think that income window is generous enough.

And even with the credit on the lower brackets you're generally paying more than you'd be comfortable with, knowing quite a few people who make less than 30k a year who are "benefitting" from the ACA in states that have passed the expansion.
