Standard fare Villain. Ciaran Hinds is one of my favorite actors, though we mostly just got his voice (though he did mocap). Still, villains are almost always the worst part of Superhero movies (well, also the dialogue). Ares, Ronan, Stane, etc.

Stane was pretty good. He had motive and a lot of character development. Ronan was kinda bad, but again, he had motive and some decent development.

Ares was bad and his final form was something from a videogame. Steppenwolf was just awful. No development, barely any explanation of his motives.

Villain was terrible but I did like his voice. I wish there would have been more fighting with the parademons. Also Ezra's (The Flash) running style makes the character look goofy.

I mean he's one of the new gods and was trying to get in the good graces of Darkseid that's like, exactly what he's supposed to be doing.

He did look stupid as fuck though. I really don't fucking know what they were going for with that costume. I guess they wanted him to look hideous on purpose so he'd invoke a sense of disgust from the audience.

Supposedly there's something like a full one hour, 45 minutes of footage cut from the final release, part of which was his backstory. Editorial Mandate forcing the movie to be under 2 hours hurt some parts of the story, but Snyder's inability to tell a cohesive plot in under 4 hours hurts too.

One thing that bothered me a lot in the movie was the way Superman came back to life. His body was in perfect condition and that hole he got from getting stabbed by Doomsday...completely healed...while he's dead. Seriously?

Kryptonians also can't die on Earth. They can only be made comatose.

To actually kill him permanently you'd need to use Gold Kryptonite or Red Sun radiation.

That may be what I'm thinking of. Though I could've sworn he said Darkseid when he brought all the boxes together for the first time but I'm not sure.

There was a hint that Cyborg made contact with him during that scene and Steppenwolf say something like "Do you understand now?" but he never said the name. Lois teases a lot at the end about "darkness" as well.

Yes there is. You can't just put Superman in a dark room and nullify his powers. He can't get as much of it inside the coffin as he can outside of it, but it's still there. There is a lot more to light than just what's visible. Actually cutting him off from sunlight typically means getting him very far away from the sun, or an extremely elaborate prison designed specifically to block all light
