BLIZZARD just wants to make money. That makes them evil. Buying packs is exactly like gambling. Cards should be free. Also, there is too much randomness in this game and therefore no room for skill. Yeah, thats why I never play competitively. This is my first exposure to CCGs since Pokemon, so I know what Im talking about.

Please sign my petition to make Hearthstone free

Yeah, but you CAN buy stuff with real money. Therefore, it's EXACTLY like gambling

You joke but ever single TCG is kinda like gambling tbh. You're spending money for something with a random value.

Technically, yes. But a lot of staples are bottlenecked behind expansions that don't have boosters (you have to play thru story campaigns to unlock them and these cost money)
So while technically true you can play for free, your chance of doing well has dropped significantly with each of these expansions released hariyama

for real though, how are loot boxes gambling? you cant actually lose, you're getting items with value for every box you open, it's just that the value is subjective (i.e. you value a skin more than a voice line or whatever).

the items have no real world monetary value so it's not like you're gaining or losing money by getting Gun X over Gun Y.

battlefront 2 is bad design but i think everyone is being a crybaby about this, obviously battlefront 2 is designed as an endless treadmill of unlocks so you keep getting more stuff as you keep playing

You're trading real money for a chance at some in-game items. You can't buy them directly and instead have to go through this roulette. There are also some items that are rarer and more valuable than others so the "value" of a pack isn't set in stone.

It's pretty textbook gambling and it preys on people with addictive personalities and low self-control. I'm on board with games that have a central mechanic around this being rated 18+.

You do realize that all adventures are purchasable with ingame gold, which is earned for free by playing and doing quests right?

It doesn't matter if something is "free" with in-game currency if you're selling it for money.

The adventures are completely fine though because you pay upfront and know exactly what you're getting.

It is free. You literally don't have to spend a dime to get them. Specially the newest one, which didn't even cost gold.

It's not free, it costs in-game currency which can only be acquired by playing the game.

And like I said before, it doesn't matter that you can get something for """free""" if it's also on sale for real money. As soon as it is, then any rules and regulations regarding sales of goods apply to it.

If the TC is attempting to make some sort of shitty defense of EA's practices, he should probably first consider that Hearthstone doesn't cost $60 for the privilege of being given access to their cash shop first.

How is a topic about Hearthstone somehow a topic about EA. Im making fun of people who think EAs practices somehow apply to CCGs - which are modeled after baseball cards - because theyve been playing Hearthstone for a few months, and havent figured out that they can just choose not to play

If you think playing a videogame that you paid nothing for is work, then you haven't actually done any real work before. Literally whining that a free game that continues to hand out free content for free isn't free enough.

Whats counts as competitive? You can get to rank 18 with the basic beginner's deck. You can get to rank 15 with the free packs and the free arena run given to you. From there you play, do quests, and get more packs to keep playing. No one needs to hit legend rank, hell most people never actually reach legend anyways.

I didn't say it was work, I said that's what it took to get the currency to purchase the packs, don't be so narrow minded. Blizzard needs players because if there are no players then nobody will spend money on the game. "free" players get some content because they provide people against who to play, do you understand? You're providing a service for them, don't think this is out of the kindness of their hearts.

Do you also think facebook is free?

You clearly think playing a videogame is work. Why even do anything, by your definition nothing is worth living for.
