Wouldn't it be a smart business decision for isps to still keep neutrality? Like say Verizon and Comcast start throttling and blocking sites and if company c isn't. Verizon and Comcast would lose business to company c

That would only matter if the area had Verizon, Comcast, and company C. Most areas only have 1 choice, so your stuck with Comcast.

you dont seem to realize that all these companies work together to ensure their monopolies in the first place. the only question in their minds is how much money they can safely take from us

The smart business decision is for Amazon, Google, and Netflix to launch their own ISP business, which Google has already laid the foundation for with its Google Fiber initiative. The content providers are the ones who will ultimately hold the power. The current ISPs are quite stupid to think they're the essential factor beyond the near-term future.

The only issue with that is it would take decades for that to pan out everywhere, especially if you were going for a fiber set up where you're having to lay an entire new infrastructure and coordinate with cities. The majority of America would still be fucked until it gets to them.

And TC, you're not realizing how much if the country is just ISP monopolies with no other options and how in a lot of places companies will basically have an unspoken "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" system in place for maintaining duopolies and such as well where they intentionally don't want to stir the pot and compete with each other.
And when smaller ISPs come around they'll get bought out or buried by the bigger companies who will slam them with frivolous lawsuits keeping them from even breaking ground for years and having to pay hundreds of thousands if not millions fighting it in court over those years.
ISP's are scum bags.

Yeah, the internet companies pretty much planned this out decades ago when they divided up the United States so they could collectively yield the most profit without worrying about antitrust laws.
